are there any quality sub $100 small folders that have a nice looking chain/lanyard that would attach to a belt loop? for some reason i thought benchmade had one, but couldn't find it on the website.

The Benchmade to which you're referring is the Benchmade 450 Park Avenue. It has a chain/hook set up. The hook is meant to attach to your pocket. I have one and although I'm more of a clip person the hook/chain works fine and allows for very discreet carry. BTW it may now be discontinued, sorry.

The Benchmade Park Avenue has a chain fob. Whether or not it is classy is a matter of taste. It's looks a little cheap to me. I can't think of any other knives with chains except for Wegners.

A few years ago, my good friend Bud Weston made a gentleman's folder with a bail to which he had attached a 100-year old solid gold chain and fob. I think the file work he had done on the back spacer echoed the design of the individual chain links. A beautiful combination, from what I recall. Wish I had bought it! :(

(I think Murray W. has a photo of this knife and chain. Murray?)

I used to have a Boker scout/camper that came with a chain with belt loop and a leather cover which would slip in and out over the knife.

I´ve used a watch chain on knives.

I know there are some chain/lanyards avaliable for Swiss Army Knives, and will likely fit a knife with a bail (they are design for the little rings on the SAKs).

I designed the 450 Park Avenue for Benchmade and it was the only one of my designs that they produced before I left for greener pastures.
When I was living in Guatemala, I carried a Swiss Army Soldier model with the waffled, aluminum scales. It was uncomfortable in my jeans because it sat at the bottom of my pocket, crossways to my fat leg. I put a short leather lanyard on it with a stainless hook to let it hang from inside the corner of my pocket, parallel to my leg. It was far more comfortable.
Later, when I began making knives and eventually gent's knives, I resurrected the idea and used a silver or gold, chain and hook on some of them. I'll have some at the NY show in November but I don't think I've ever made them for under $100 !

As far the Park Avenue goes, it's a awesome over built little bastid.
And one of the sharpest production knives I own. I've actually used it quite a bit, and it still scares me.
.
BTW, Bob T., you still Rock!!!!!! Rock on.... :D
