I've had my gerber paraframe for 5 years now and put it through its paces and it just won't die on me, so now I've put it in my bob bag in my car, this knife was an everyday user for three years until I upgraded, I've rubbed the black coating off the blade with so much use. Anyone else have experienceces with this knife wheather there good or bad tell me your experienceces

Not many people are fond of Gerber around here. You should post some pictures of your Paraframe.

When the spine of mine is even bumped, the frame lock fails. This is after <2 weeks of use. The coating came off easily, and the steel won't stay sharp.

I'll never buy another Gerber. :thumbdn:

Worst knife ever.

Ive always been a fan of Gerber knives - not least because Ive bought a slew of MKI and MKIIs over the years.

Gerber always had a special place in my heart for what the name used to stand for in regards to their older knives.

The Paraframe POS was an eye opener for me; it managed to destroy any credibility that Gerber once had.

The BG 'carp' dont exactly restore the credibility of the brand either.

I have a love hate relationship with mine. The thumb studs constantly unscrew themselves, the steel sucks, and I've managed to cut myself when the knife is closed multiple times, but I think it's a wicked looking knife and I love the size and how slim and light it is. It just keeps ending up in my pocket

I had one before I was a knife nut, I thought it was pretty cool but knowing what I know now I dont really care for gerber, I wouldnt mind having a couple of their usa made autos though. There are so many better knives and companies out there why waste time and money when you know about that better stuff:D

I had both the large and small models - both were sharp like marbles and had almost non-existent lock up. Add to that the pocket clips either came loose or bent within a couple days of carry. Sad.

I had exactly the same issue, after a close call I tossed the knife in the garage drawer where is now resides. I suppose I can't complain too loudly as I got mine for free, in fact I got a second one for free still in its packaging.

I bought one on a whim a few years ago. Opened the packackage and started hating it. Traded it a few days later. Don't remember what I traded for but it wasn't much. I just wanted to be rid of it. I do like some Gerbers, just not that one.

I've got 3 of the older paraframes (the logo is different) in small, med and large the medium one is my favorite it has the 3" blade its been a great edc and the mini was the one I took out in front of non knife friendly people until I got my tops ferret last week and well the mini isn't in my pocket anymore ;-)

I was looking at buying that for a camping trip looking for a cheap knife i ended up getting the ripstop 1 fine edge no problems with it combing apart just hard to sharpen and keep sharp besides that i like it.

Agreed. Super bad lock failure, locks are often hard to disengage, steel is just pure crap. I mean it's one thing if you have to sharpen a knife to a razor edge all the time, but many Gerber knives, especially this type, won't even take an edge in the first place without grinding material off.
