Just looking for a little consult on any good knife spots in Hartford. Going to be there in a couple weeks (West Hartford) and may have the time to do a little shopping. Last time I was there I spent some time in the Victorinox store in the westfarms mall. Loved that place!!!! I hope it is still there as I will go back.

Suggestions on any other good places to check out would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance---

There's a nice little knife shop in Providence Place Mall, not too far away.

It's called "On the Edge Cutlery" on the first main floor (1 of 3) IIRC. Prices aren't too bad, and they've got a nice selection of semi-custom stuff in addition to a respectable SAK selection. I go there for darts...

On The Edge had another location at Emerald Square in North Attleboro, MA. I'd been there about 2 months ago just browsing. Was back at the mall 2 weeks ago looking to buy and they were gone, which sucks.

Thanks for the heads-up, Z.

There's also Cubeta's in the Middlefield area right off 91. Was just there a few weeks ago and they had a very nice selection, plus a good selection of guns and related items.

for the On the Edge fans, they will be opening in Boston sometime around the end of summer (I think).

The Victorinox store is still there at West Farms. Probably the most impressive knife store in the area, They pretty much have the whole Benchmade and Spyderco lines and alota Kershaw too, but the prices are very high.(Prices do include sales tax though, 6% in CT) Make sure to check out the small 50% off shelf they have, I just scored Two MOD CQD Mark Ones for $150 each there.

If you're up to going to Boston, Chesepeake Knife and Tool is good too, the people there are great. Below ground by Faneuil Hall. Good stuff.

Thanks for all the input guys, do any of you know if the victorinox store has a working website? I have the business card from the store and it says the website is www.victorinoxstores.com. does not seem to work??

I'll second Cubeta's.If they have the same selection they did a few years ago when I went,it is the best knife store I know about in CT or even NY for that matter.
