Hi guys,
My girlfriend's older sister is thinking of getting a vintage Czech pocket knife for keeping in the car. It's got a blade about 2.5 inches and a handle shaped like a fish. I guess when they were younger, everyone there (Poland) often took one of these camping and enjoyed them. So far be it from me to say nay to that but, the fish thing sort of screams "novelty" to me. I wanted to explore other options, particularly as the steel is just "stainless steel."
I know there are a ton of good U.S. knives and was thinking of sending a couple of my own back with my girlfriend when she goes. However, her sister is very into the "local" or vintage stuff. So I'd like to explore any interesting options closer to home.
Please help me with some research and options from the countries above. I'd prefer to find something less novelty with a somewhat longer blade and identifiable steel. She'd be ecstatic to get something from Hungary. I've been to Budapest but wasn't looking around for knives.
I'd love to be able to find something useful and utilitarian from any of these countries.
Also was thinking Opinel but you can get those in Poland too, not very rare or local.
