If this is in the wrong place let me know, and sorry.
I don't see a sub gun forum anywhere.
I was recently going through a few boxes at my parents that have old magazines.
My moms been hassling me to take them over to my own garage now that's its finally organized.
Well, it was quite a stroll down memory lane.
I've been reading gun mags since jr. high.
I had a surprising amount that survived from '84.
A HUGE amount from '87.
Looking through them reminded me how many of those guns were available even in more restrictive Kali.
And how I'd often see those very guns in the various gun stores here in SoCal.
Not so much now. The few stores i see now have only an abundance of AR types, a cabinet of glocks and kimbers.
Very rarely any used/consigned guns.
Of course there was a bunch of "Guns and Ammo".
Including "Annuals", "Special Editions", and "Complete Guide To . . "
The one on fully automatic submachine guns was particularly fun to go through again.
It seems I also have a nice example of the progression of "Handguns"
From the premiere issue of "Peterson's Handguns: For Sport and Defense",
to "Handguns: For Sport and Defense",
and then just "Handguns",
and finally "Guns and Ammo's - Handguns"
There was also the good 'ole "Gun World".
- Guns.
-Weapons and Tactics.
-Shooting Times.
-Combat Handguns.
-Guns and Weapons.
-Modern Guns. This one had all the background colors of an "alternative" music magazine geared towards 90's hipsters.
Also,
-S.W.A.T.
- Handgunning.
- American Handgunner.
I even found 90's vintage American Rifleman from my earlier N.R.A. memeberships.
I thought I chucked those since I usually don't keep my current American Riflemans.
Some of these old mags are staying in my house on a bookshelf for nostalgic reference, and the rest are reorganized in a large plastic storage box in the garage.
I'm quite surprised they survived so long in an old garage inside of cardboard U-haul storage boxes.
I took a few pics with my phone and may put them up later.
I'm sure some of you older guys have way bigger collections.
Anything really old and interesting to share? Pre 80's?
Oh yeah, and of course I had knife mags too:
-Blade.
-Knives Illustrated.
- and Tactical Knives
All from the 90's.
