Any Haddock or Pry-Mate knives yet?

Seriously - these knives are supposedly out there. No one has them in stock. Even the one evil-bayer who listed them sold his, supposedly, and didn't restock. Of course, I want a 'deal', too. The only googled sellers list them still as back-ordered. Gotta wonder... I may go back to awaiting a ZT or Benchmade - I know they'll be available.

We have sent out all of both of these. We will send more as we get them.
They are pretty popular, and are sold before we get them.

Seems the Boker knives are hard to get a hold of... My ship date on my Rhino just got pushed back to the 26th....I bet the Tom Krein will get pushed back too, getting anxious now..

Hmmm, we just shipped a couple hundred Rhinos and Gnomes in the last week.

Well, I may have averted a poor purchase - for me. It's our anniversary - we made a trip to a high end sporting goods store. No Boker Tree Brand classics - but some Magnums - and a Haddock! A decent price was suggested - and improved before I left - the salesman could see the sadness in my eyes.

To be blunt, I didn't like it! My Benchmade 755 MPR is a far finer made knife. The hollow grind of the Boker no doubt keeps the weight down, given it's 5 mm spine thickness. The 'stone-washed' look, the best description I can make for it, gives it an 'old' look - and the unserrated plain edge had some micro-serrations near the hilt - probably just poorly ground. Still, there is no place for that kind of a QC slip in an expensive knife. The frame-lock drug on something - it just felt uneven - until the framelock rested on it's ball. Some wear was seen where the pivot bears - the blade metal there was silver in color. The blade was centered - and suitably stiff when deployed. It just didn't resemble a $100 knife - much less a $270 list knife. The BM 755, by comparison, and as a similarly constructed folder, should have cost twice that, given it's higher QC and attention to detail. I deeply regret this discovery - I wanted that knife since the day I found it in the Boker catalog.

I just ordered a ZT 0301 - I predict I'll be a lot happier. I still await that dealer's Pry-Mate arrival - and will consider it's purchase then. YMMV. Maybe it was a 'blemished' model that escaped the QC inspectors?

Sorry to hear that. You are right, it shouldn't have gone through with what you described, QC should have got it. Glad you like your BM though.

Well, serious crow-eatting time. I went back - my elder son met me at the sporting good's store - for an early Pappy's Day. I was looking over the Haddock. The salesman retrieved it - and a magnifier... The rough edge turned out to be remnants of a wire edge - easily removed by stropping on my palm - and jeans' pants leg. Fairly even printer paper strip slicer - even arm hair popper - now. My son presented me - early - with a C-note for Pappy's Day. The salesman dropped the price again - with s/t, it was less than the cheapest version I saw on evil-bay.

The dragging noise was the Ti framelock as it disengaged from the blade. I know Ti is easily galled when worked - perhaps that's all it is. It makes more such noise than my other Ti framelocks - and some clock oil (needle applicator) didn't help. Perhaps it will get better with use. At this point, I am much happier with my purchase. I'll bring some +4.00 dollar store readers next time I peruse that dealer's new knives - new Bokers - I hope it's for a Pry-Mate!

A happy Haddock owner! (And... thank you, #1 son!)

pictures, pictures!!

I'm very excited about this knife! Let's hope the production is bumped up soon so they are available.

Two quickies - comparing the Haddock with the BM 755:

Note: I don't like clips! The Haddock even had a pair of screws in the unused clip screw holes. They are all in the box now. More pix later!

Just like you ive wanted it ever since i saw it. I had one ordered for several months...finally got tired of waiting and cancelled my order. Theyre nowhere to be found in Europe and emails from Boker keep on stating "next month" every time

That stonewashed blade looks even more worn than i imagined!! Tell me how does it sit in the hand? How does it cut, open, close, feel etc??? Id really like to hear all you can tell about this knife.

Any chance you could throw in a comparison pic next to a Spyderco Endura?

And more pics would be greatly appreciated, and especially some in-hand pics! :D

Im glad you found one  enjoy!

I am trying so hard to wait for one of these haddocks. I hope they come available before I break down and buy a custom!

I got a back-ordered ZT-301 last Thursday - here the Haddock is with the ZT and my BM 755 MPR:

Mine came sharp enough that I didn't touch it up - save some palm and jeans pants stropping to remove the wire edge remnants. An expensive knife shouldn't have been delivered like that - and $279 MSRP makes that an expensive knife. I found mine in a locally owned large sporting goods store - with a decent price - which they readily improved on. It had only been there a few days when I bought it. The stone-washed blade/Ti frame really makes it look old... that has grown on me!

The heavily hollow ground blade does have a thick spine - but this is no BM 755 and is more suited for finer work. The 5 mm spine keeps it from being a good envelope/small package opener. The slightly curved Wharncliffe blade is interesting - I don't know why - but I like it. The Kershaw 'Needs Work' is a straight Wharncliffe for comparison - probably better for chopping. I think it's a keeper! The handle has a natural and secure feel in the hand - improved by removing the clip (I don't like or use clips!) - I wondered where the finger grooves were looking at it - they weren't needed in use! I still wonder where the thumb jimping went... a real omission, IMHO. To defend their absence, the broad spine helps. Pivot screw tension affects blade tip centering... the 'sweet spot' for efficient opening coincided with fair centering.

Mine has a home...

The evil-bayer I found earlier finally got a pair of Pry-Mates in. No word locally - they told me they understood if I had to get one while the picking was good - they'd sell it anyhow. So, I took a chance - then, the next day, he was 'out of stock' again. But - mine was 'on the way'! It arrived this AM...

The box is grey - like a Boker Tree Brand Classic box for a Copperhead/Congress/Stockman - just a lot bigger. Nothing special like the Haddock came in. The Pry-Mate was sheathed in it's tight Kydex sheath in a poly bag, with another poly bag containing a Molle belt loop adapter and screws. Compared with the Haddock's fancy box and red velvet-like tote bag, the Pry-Mate came rather under-stated. Do be careful - the Kydex is tight and the blade is sharp.

First impression - ah, didn't I order a knife rather than a Pry-bar? This knife is one that Busse would like. Sure, it is hollow ground - with an appropriately fine ground edge - but that spine & tang... I knew it was 'healthy' - but it is alarmingly so in person. The jimping on the spine is large scale - which helps the thumb get a proper purchase. Very soft edges there - not so much in the choil's edge - but enough to prevent DNA-samples when choking up on the blade. The fit to my medium+ hand is like the Haddock's - just right - more or less handle would be too much or too little. The fit/finish is excellent on the handle - the Micarta/red band/blade tang junction is perfect - I was impressed until I remembered what it cost - it should be right! The weirdest cutting, after insuring it'd pop arm hairs, was the gushy over-ripe grape tomatoes - sliced paper thin! They - and especially the larger tomato slices - start curling - no doubt due to the heavy hollow grind - but, it is useful in the kitchen. Actually, my Buck 119 & 120 are my butcher knives.

I'll post a comparison of the Pry-Mate & Barkie T.U.S.K. and the Haddock and a BM 425 Gravitator - the closest I own to being comparable - later - when my light source permits pix to be taken. As of now - its a keeper! Worth the angst - and the wait? We'll see...

any new news on the pry-mate who has them in stock or when they are going to be in stock

I am getting some PryMates in today, should ship them tomorrow.
Haddocks have been in stock, and the supply train for a week or more now, so they should be showing up in retailers soon.

My Haddock order from Knifecenter came in yesterday. I'm very satisfied with the purchase. Good F&F. Definitely a keeper.
