I've seen a lot of new 0300 for sale or trade here lately and I lot of the pics they look brand new so I was wondering if anyones used one a lot and what they thought and how it stood up? Anyone customized their 0300?

I have used mine alot to cut limbs out of my walking trails, and around deer stands, and it really worked good for that. It will also chop limbs off, like a much bigger knife. It has become my favorite knife. I think it is made like a custom knife!

O.K, so now i'm curious, why has only one person responded? do you guys use your knives or just look at em? G.M

I know this isn't the exact knife, but I can attest to the hardiness of the 0200.

I got mine roughly a year ago - it's replaced all the others that I had previously (including 2 other kershaws) as my *only* daily carry knife. The only time you'll see me swap it out for another is if I'm wearing lightweight pants (I wear jeans 95% of the time) or if I'm going to my MIL's in Illinois (retarded 3"+ blade law).

I use it numerous times daily for various tasks. It resharpens like a breeze on my sharpmaker, and there are only two marks on it - I've knocked about 1/4mm off the tip (not noticible unless you're really looking), and I "demonstrated" the lockup on the knive and slammed its back hard against the corner of an old coke machine. The coke machine lost - although there is a tiny spot on the spine that no longer has the DLC coating.

I've been surprised how well the coating stands up to all kinds of abuse. My old CRKT Kaspers coating was like paint - chipped off and destroyed most of it within a month of carrying it. The coating on my 0200, except for the small spot mentioned above, is pristine.

I would imagine the 0300 would be as good if not better than the 0200 (I'm just not a big fan of the AO's)

Sorry GM, didn't see this thread.

I have used my 0301 every day since late February when I got it.
Just this past Thursday I needed to cut a piece of 2 Ga. battery cable
and didn't have pliers, cable cutter(the correct tool) or anything else.
So, I pulled out my ZT, set it upright on the cable and pounded down
with my palm until it cut through.

No chipping, just a few marks on the coating. (which you can see)
I sharpened it back up again and everything is good to go.

Yes, it is dirty and needs a wash. :D

I've carried my ZT300 five or more days a week for about the past 6 months. I've used it for all sorts of odd jobs, from cutting cardboard boxes at work to pruning twigs for tinder.

The only noticeable wear-and-tear on the knife are tiny little scratch marks in the black coating on the blade. Not really noticeable and no big deal.

I do clean it occassionally to brush the dust and pocket lint out and apply a light oil over the blade after I sharpen it. It seems to hold an edge really well (I've cut numerous strands of thick weed trimmer cord and different fishing line with little dulling) and is easy to touch up with just a cheap-o crock-stick or similar pocket sharpener.

I was a little worried that the internal AO spring/parts would be a potential weakness or something that would break down over time, but so far I've had no problems and the ZT300 opens just as smoothly as it did the day I took it out of the box.

Basically, the only gripe I have with the knife is that the "thumbstuds" are too small to be used as such, so you are pretty much forced to use the "flipper" thing only. Again, no big deal because it's a great feature but after years of carrying a folder and practicing to draw a certain way by reflex, you kind of have to retrain yourself a little.

So, in my experience, the ZT300 is a rugged folder that costs as much as a custom but you can abuse it like a flea market beater and it will hold up pretty well.

I use to think, that I did not like AO knives. But after trying the 302, I do now. Just touch the flipper, and it is open!:)

You should try the Tyrade. :D
And for just as fast, if not faster than assisted, try a new black R.A.M.
Those are like lightning.
