Hello everyone,

I normally don't post in the Community Center, but I did have something to share that isn't knife related, so I figured this is the best place for it. I hope that it isn't construed as spam or link-and-run, as I will definitely be keeping an eye on this thread and I assure you that this is not something I was forwarded and I gain nothing from this but happiness if it is successful. Um ... was there some point you were leading up to?

Haha, well it would appear that the mods deemed my thread inappropriate for the community center, and that "Mo" at the end of my post was actually "Mods feel free to move or delete this as you see fit" since I still wasn't sure after reading over the rules. I was trying to find a home for a really old dog at a rescue (that I'm not affiliated with) but I suppose I'll just have to keep trying the old fashioned way :)

I doubt the Mods snipped your post. They always make note when they do. Some people were reporting that their posts were being truncated after the server move. This is what probably happened to you

Ah, I just saw the post in S&S thanks to a PM. Well, here is the rest of my post, and we'll see if it's allowed to stay :)

A little over a year ago I took my fiancee to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah, and while we were there we met a sweet old dog named Kimbo. We took him on a sleepover while we were there, and he became attached to us very quickly, even whining at night if he couldn't see us to make sure we were still there. We would have adopted him, but we were living in a place that wouldn't allow dogs at the time, and by the time we moved to an apartment complex that did allow dogs, we adopted one from a local rescue instead. What we didn't realize was that Kimbo's owner had died and he ended up at the sanctuary shortly after, and that was 14 years ago! This old boy is 15 years old and has spent nearly his entire life at the sanctuary--granted, it's a very nice sanctuary, but it isn't a home.

After finding this out in a recently posted video on the Best Friends website, my fiancee and I have become determined to do what we can to help Kimbo get adopted so he can finish out his life in a loving home. He doesn't get along great with other male dogs, and he has some separation anxiety, but he's great on a leash and loves to go hiking, even at his age. I know a lot of people on here have dogs already, or aren't home enough, but I thought that maybe posting about Kimbo on here could help improve his chances. Here is a recent picture that a volunteer took of him:

You can also find him on the Best Friends site here, and we have set up a fan page for him on Facebook

I really hope that we can generate enough interest to find a good home for Kimbo. Thanks for reading, and please tell others about him

He looks like a sweet doggy. Wish I could help but I'm about 3K miles away and I really can't care for a dog at the moment.:thumbup: for trying to help him.

He's definitely a great dog. We just sent him treats, too, so apparently that is allowed if anyone wants to show their support by sending treats, toys, beds, etc. The information to do it should be available on the Best Friends site, and you would just need to send it to "Kimbo @ Old Friends" at their address. Also, Best Friends has flown animals out to their new homes before, although I'm not sure what they require to do that.

Good luck, it's very good to do what your doing. It's a beautiful dog too! :) Ciao from Italy.

Wish I could help too. Dog or not, the pic seems to show he has aged gracefully. Peace be to him and to you as well for your good intentions.

Well, it appears that someone has put in an application for adoption for Kimbo! No word yet on whether or not the application will be accepted, but hopefully he ends up in a great home with the applicants!

Thanks for the support everyone! Unfortunately, it looks like the person who put in the application may have decided on another dog, so hopefully word keeps spreading about this guy! I really hope he doesn't have to live his last days at a shelter instead of a loving home
