Hi

Any good quality small radio (not made in China)?
I want a really well built small radio that will last a life time or 2. Reliable. Very good reception. Good material used in the manufacture of the parts.
I want a small one to take with me everywhere.

I couldn't find anything. I don't mind Japanese or German. It does not have to be American made. :)

As long as it is hi quality.
 
My dad has a sony and seems to like it. It was his gift for fathers day. And it is made in Japan.
 
Sony is phasing out their raidios. I belive the only shortwave they still have is made in China. Try searching for a used shortwave.

Sadly my 20+ year old Sony short wave radio is beginning to fail. fogets settings when it is turned off, been everywhere with me over the years so looking for a replacement. Probably Sangean or Grundig.

Oh, just spotted the Sony ICF-SW7600GR which looks like the current version of mine. Not sure where it's made though
 
Chinese electronics ? I had to upgrade my internet modem and the phone guy brought a Siemans modem. It had a very intense and vile smell which also gave me an allergic reaction !!! Made in China of course ! He replaced it with an earlier version , non-Chinese modem which is ok .
I've noticed that Chinese electronics have strong smells ,perhaps they get ride of their toxic waste that way !

Sounds like it just needs a new battery somewhere inside to keep the memory powered.
 
The problem with radios is that you have to listen to the idiots that are broadcasting :)
 
Sangean has a very good reputation for making quality portable radios. I believe they are made in Taiwan but I'm not positive. At any rate they are very good radios and have a following among old fashioned radio enthusiasts.

I second the Sangean brand, I have one of their older pocket world radios and took it to Europe 6 years ago, I still use it daily, super radio for sure.:thumbup:

Sangean definately makes a good product and until a few years ago, they were made in Taiwan. However like almost everyone else, manufacture has moved to China. As for Grundig, they are owned by the Chinese now. I believe the parent company is Tecsun.
 
countycomm has a small shortwave radio in gov packaging right now, so I would assume its usa produced, however they do not specify.
