Any Horizontal Carry SFNO Sheaths?

I'd like to see some horizontal carry options, for SFNOs if you have them. If you have pics of other blades in this configuration, that would be appreciated as well.

Thanks, Mike

This should be fun. I've seen at least a scrofa horizontal sheath around here, recently. I haven't made any yet myself, but I would love to hear people describe why they like it and how it works re-sheathing a knife carried this way (presuming small of back carry).

I've thought about making a couple horizontal SOB carry sheaths, and as you've pointed out, I've been afraid of piercing one of my kidneys during resheathing.

Are you thinking of crossdraw or SOB? If you look in any gun forum you'll find lots of people who preach against SOB with some pretty convincing(to me) arguments. It also seems like a heck of an awkward position to put your arm into to draw, and of course, resheath.

If you look on Burt Foster's website, he has a nice crossdraw design sheath in leather. Dozier has a nice design in Kydex.

I actually prefer cross-draw on all my larger and heavier knives. Makes sheathing and unsheathing alot easier.

I'd still like to see anyone's photos, if there are any. Sorry to derail your thread MMIAM. One nice thing is it seems it would really keep your knife out of the way (unless you're wearing a pack) until you need it.

i too have converted to crossdraw, even on my handguns. it makes it so much easier to sit in a car or anywhere for that matter.

.

here are some quick pics of my ASHLE in the sheath i made set up to go vertical and horizontal. it is a big knife but with a little tweaking of the design, i think i can get it to fit just right. more pics on the next one.
(i am making the same setup for my fatty GW right now.....i think that will ride alot closer to the body:D)

I am glad this came up as I have been interested in trying out horizontal carry on my NO-E. I think I will mod my Kydex sheath for horizontal carry for starters.

I think the BAD A.S.S. was originally intended to handle something up to Outlaw size. Can't remember if it was Ergo or SF Outlaw, though.

Gundy?

The original badass was for an Active Duty, but we've done em for everything and including a Battle Mistress. Yes, some people are big enough to pull it off.

I lost a lot of pictures in a computer crash last year, but I'll see if I can find any pics of multi carry sheaths with a horzontal option.

In thinking while writing, not safe btw, ;) The rigging straps on my HOSS sheaths allow for horizontal carry on a pack or self, and you can unsnap them for easy removal of the sheath from whence it rides. X loops are good for horizontal carry on blades under 6".
