Any idea where Becker will go now?

Camillus did not make knives for Ontario. They did make knives for KaBar,Cold Steel, Case, Remington, Imperial, Sears, John Primble ... and the list goes on.........

But not Ontario.

I for one would like to see Ontario pick up the Becker line.

I HAVENT HEARD JEFF RANDALL OR MIKE PERRIN COMPLAIN ABOUT THEIR RAT KNIFE LINE!

Thats very positive indication that Ontario Knife Company is doing it right.

They didnt that I know of. What did they make for ontario?

I have just enquired about a Ontario TAK 1 through Newgraham and he told me that as Camillius are finished these (TAK1 ) are hard to get as they made them for Ontario !!!
That is the 1095 version,I don't know about the D2 one !!

The ka-bar heavy bowies are made in Taiwan, but they are extremely well made tough and sharp! i have both the large and short and they are sharper out of the box than any of my becker's were and 1085 is a tough steel at 55-57 rc it tends to fold rather than chip as my beckers will when hitting barbed wire or a nail as i have hit both while chopping kindling! they can be brought back to razor sharpness in about three minutes after a chopping session but they wont hold and edge like a becker and i hate buying imports! but i cannot deny that these two are fantastic blades and i will continue to use them and maybe even more than my beckers now that they are no longer available. If ka-bar gets the becker contract we will likely see taiwan stamped on the blade as i just recieved their new 2007 catalog and most of the japanese made folders are now made in china! and taiwan! not many left with the usa stamp. I am not sure i would buy the beckers with a taiwan stamp even though i like the bowies i dont like supporting economies across the waters!

Cool thanks for educating me.

Taiwan & Japan don't bother me as much as China. For crying out loud, we may have to fight China some day.............why are we building their economy & industry? :barf:

Without the USA, Taiwan & Japan won't last a week! At least they are on our side if push comes to shove.

Taiwanese knives have become very good over the past few years.
I have no issue any longer with buying a knife made in Taiwan.

However, the knives from mainland China are, overall, still lousy.

So, I'm glad to see that those Ka-Bar Bowies are made in Taiwan rather than mainland China.

(Of course, I'd still much rather see "Made in USA".)

I am pretty sure that Camillus didn't make any of the Rat or tak knives. The only one that I know of made by somebody other than ontario was the rat-1 folder which is from across the water.

Camillus has never made any knives for Ontario nor have they ever made any knives for Jeff and I (RAT Knives). Mike Perrin

Well, either he was telling you a story or was just plain uneducated on the topic. You just got it from the source!

abarnhart,

I couldn't have said it better. When one of the designers of the Randall's Adventure Training (RAT) knives tells you that Camillus did not make any of the RAT knives, you can take it to the bank.

they make good knives they do. now, can i use that check and have a knife sent? :) heh heh. dang. not that kind of check.

i wouldn't mind having Becker made by TWO companies, perhaps a new line of patterns, or a new/old thing, or a different "level"... mmm.

imagine Beckers made out of D2? yah. sweet? the carbon-V stuff is pretty skippy to me.

paycheck coming along soon [finally], time to buy something :)

D2 Becker, now that has a nice sound to it;

BK7 0170-6C
BK7 1095

BK77 S30V
BK77D D2

How about
BK7D (BK7 in D2)
BK9D (BK9 in D2)
BK2D (BK2 in D2)
BK10D (BK10 in D2)
BK11D (BK11 in D2)

Lets not for get to bring back the BK5

BK5D (BK5 in D2)

The BK6 would be a tough one, but I wouldn't mind it in 1095 with the Foliage Green Textured Powder Coat Finish. I can almost see it now.

That would make a whole new set of knives to collect.
