Any idea which species of wood I have here?

I got this from a Rockler cutoff bargain bin along with a nice chunk of purpleheart. Problem is, I have no idea what it is.

Rockler sold me plywood!!!! Actually, I think it's figured African Mahogany. At any rate, it's super hard and only cost me a buck. I will probably just sand to a high grit and polish.

Could just be the actual grain, looks a bit oakey to me.
