Brass bolsters usually mean post WW2 from what I've heard but that's not gospel. How thick is the blade? Heat treat decent?

I wonder what kinda bone that handle is made of,i have a blade similar but my handle is bug eatin horn, huge holes, the old reddish colored sheath is fallin apart, and the blade has hundreds if not thousands of micro fractures in the steel, looked good in pictures when I bought it,seller didn't disclose the damage ,I even won it after a bidding war, still you have a nice blade..

Bargs, are they microfractures or lamination lines? Pattern welded steel done just for steel quality reasons (as opposed to aesthetic) can be pretty weird lookin'.

well the cracks or lines are along the back of the blade from the handle all the way to the tip, both sides, start about 1/4 inch up to probably 1 1/4 inches into the blade, looks like spiderwebs?,I chopped with it,me and my wife, cant break it.she uses it for gardening.. might retire it..

Love to see a pic-I have a horn hilted almost-but-not-quite longleaf that has a similar kinda deal, but very fine-definately either wootz or lamination. The other old one I've got is laminated too-and you can see where the smith peened a failed weld shut with a punch and just kept rollin'.image.jpgimage.jpg
The one in hand is the first one I mentioned-the other old one is the horn hilt in the second pic. Sadly the pic is of the wrong side of the khuk, and its too dark to take another.....
