I would like to make a knife stand for my folding knives, I would like it to hold knives the size of my Scallion to my Vex, any ideas? I would prefer it to be made easily as I don't have a lot of tools for wood working (if it is made of wood, it has to be simple) and I have no tools to work metal with, just something simple to display my knives on.

peice of drift wood. open the blade and stab the wood.

knives are supposed to cut and stick. if you could get bin ladens neck that would be even better.

:) :) True, but if the U.S. military has trouble finding him, then I won't stand a chance.

I remember seeing these small display cases that had small shelves in them at a curio store that sold miniature statues and figurines. That might work. Also those fold out dish plate stands might work if you could cut out some notches in them so that you could place the knives in the notches.

I would be afraid of sticking the tips of my knives in wood and having it just free standing like that. I would be concerned of the tips of the knives breaking off. It's a cool idea though of displaying but if someone didn't do it right and slightly bend the knife as they pulled the knife out to show, clean, etc. there is a possibility of damaging the tip.

Making them is cool but I took the lazy approach. I bought some acrylic stands similar to some I found on Ebay (these actually look a little better). I have 10 of them full of my folder collection. Search Ebay for "knife acrylic display stand" and you will see them.

Good luck

...small display cases that had small shelves ...

make it a large display case with small shelves - then you have what I've got.
keeps the folders dust-free and safe, but on the other hand they're behind glass and somehow less present that way. well, I'm into fbs now more and they're no problem lying around or hung up at the wall.

I already have a knife roll, but they can't be seen when their in there. I also have a display with the glass front, but it takes up alot of space and it is full already, it would take up more space than I am willing to give if I got another. I was hoping someone would have a BF trick of storing knives. I have seen a couple of ideas, but only one might work for me and I was hoping that there would be a better way. Here are the ideas I have seen since being on BF: 1. a clothesline or parcord strung on the wall with the knives clipped to it. 2. a folded piece of cardboard with a notch cut out and used like a display stand. #1. seems like a good idea, but I don't have alot of wall space and it doesn't really display the knives, it just stores them in the open. #2. would be alright but it looks a little cheap and it doesn't seem like it would hold up, maybe if I painted it, it would look better.

You didn't mention my post (#5). As I said, my whole collection is displayed this way. They are cheap and the knives are accessible and easy to see. But it's your choice.

Sorry, I missed that one. I don't want to have to order anything as I just wanted a cheap and effective way of displaying alot of knives. I figured a fellow "lover of sharp things" might have a good idea. Thanks everyone for your input and keep the suggestions rolling in.
