Any Ideas on this maker?

I found this great little knife today at my local pawn shop and just couldn't bear to see it living next to the normal pile of junk knives. Someone put some nice effort into the knife and sheath and somewhere along it's life history it has been used. It's carbon, sharp, Koa?, brass pins, nice leather and brass peened rivets. I think it will find a home on my belt around elk camp. If you have any ideas on the maker, let me know. Thanks

@gthouse... thanks. I will do a little local investigation. When I googled his name it came up in a book that Wayne Goddard wrote, and I have known Wayne for years. So I will run it past him and see if he can confirm. If it is, then I will try and find out what the H&G is about and if it's the 10th knife he made?

I emailed pictures to Wayne and visited with him on the phone the other day and this is a Carl Sontag, he got his start making knives in Waynes shop years ago. That blade design is much like Wayne's blade. Anyway, it's a nice little user.

Here is a Wayne Goddard sheath. Yours has a similar 4 rivet construction.

gthouse has got it, that is a Carl Sontag, of Eugene, Oregon. Pretty sure he studied under Wayne Goddard. John
