Last night during my usual internet knife hunt I found a CFK/IPAK knife on the bay that I would like to add to the collection, D2 steel, great looking clip point design, decent looking leather sheath. From what I have seen they sell a ton of them on there, all different blade styles and designs, I ended up sniping it in the last few seconds for cheap, don't care for the ziz wheel marks on the handles but I have a couple of fresh slabs of black micarta that I'm gonna make a nice set with. Anybody know much about this brand? Appears the blades are made in the UK and sent to Oregon for the finish work, looks pretty chunky at 1/4" thick, it measures 9" should be a pretty cool knife. Here's a couple pics,...

I wonder if this is yet another offshoot from that company that tried to sell mostly "beautifully designed handmade Damascus knives" for dirt cheap. They had a reputation for things being sent to or being from Oregon. Aside from legit custom makers that you can put a face to a name, Oregon is the land of KAI, Benchmade, Leatherman, & Gerber. They are obviously not made in the USA and they are marked as such, that screams "run far and fast" to me right there.

Not sure but I figure for less then 50 bills it wasn't to much of a gamble, their advertising 60+ HRC on the heat treat, just hope it's not brittle.

Benchmade runs their D2 between 60-62RC so I wouldn't worry about it. I would worry more if it's even D2 to begin with. I've seen it advertised by them as German Sandvik D2.

As long as your expectations aren't too high, you should be ok.

Like Silvanus said, you should be more concerned if what they're advertising is even true.

Hope it all works out for ya, man!

I've now bought 3 knives from CFK on ebay. Two with the CFK brand and one CFK/IPAK. By their own admission the IPAK knife is not as well finished and I found that to be true. I will probably not buy another IPAK blade from them, but I really like their 1/4" thick full tang knives. The heft and (so far) solid construction makes them a good choice for me at a price of under $50. I'd like to get one of the Damascus blades from them in the future. So I have no problem with the knives I've gotten from them. Good luck!

Here are a couple of responses I got from them after I asked them about a particular knife they're selling (TOPS Tracker knife clone):

WHO ARE WE: CFK is a new brand that is delivering its customers a hard core knife that will last a lifetime. CFK offers the one of the finest, most affordable knives in the world. The steel is forged and treated in England with American craftsmen assembling the knife handles to insure extremely short run knives.

We wholesale our line on eBay to get our brand known worldwide. The prices are wholesale. These trackers retail at shows for 125.00. This is an excellent made knife and worth a lot more than its wholesale dealer price.

[They don't get free advertising that way, sorry]
