I recently put a Wharncliffe custom knife in Layaway at a local knife shop...it has stag slabs, very nice fileworked springbacks and blades..engraved bolsters....3 blade....it is marked Digby or Digby's..(don't have the knife yet)
Does anyone have any information about this maker? I believe this is a Sheffield knife...

The tang mark is probably 'Digby's Kellem Island', and if your knife is anywhere near the great quality of my Graham Clayton made 6" texas toothpick, you'll be very happy with it.

Here is a link that will explain some about the mark and the 'Little Mester' that made your knife:

Make sure and show us your knife when you get it, huh?

If it's the old guy that I remember watching at kellin Island then you have a very nice knife indeed. I don't know if he's still alive though and the workshop is now sad and empty.
I'd love to have a knife made by him just for the memories I have of that place.

PS Also home to some of the best ales but I don't drink them

I should have noted in my post that the very good and friendly guys at BritishBlades.com gave me that link when I went to that site to ask about my own knife.

Thanks for the update, Andy, as sad as it is to read.
