They are two very different knives.
I havent had a Dozier but I have heard they are nice knives. The Rat is much tougher. I guess it depends on what you want to do with it.
Why not keep both:D

$$$$ is one issue, it would be used for basic camping chores, skinning and light batoning but i dont think the dozier would be good for batoning and the rat for skinning.......

I had my SAR thinned by the factory to 30 degrees, it was pretty slicey. I think it could be used as a skinner, even if it wouldnt be the optimum choice. I dont know about the toughness of the Dozier, but the "lightness" of the batoning wouldnt be an issue with the rat. you can pound it through a log and pry it apart. As far as skinning goes, you might want to ask on one of the swamprat forums and see if anyone has used a SAR or similar for that scope of work. If it was me I would go for the Rat, but then again I am biased.;)

I have beat the snot out of my SAR, and have a bullet proof warranty if ever I manage to tear it up.

I have spoken with Mr. Dozier at his shop before, and I don't think he would appreciate what many call "improper use" of his knives.

You could always call him and ask, however. I do like his knives, and would like to own some one day. I don't know of many others making D2 for $150 to $250 that are quite that nice. He does very good work.

Of course, you could always sell the SAR to me, and keep the Dozier. It would look good with the two I have.:D
