I just won one from the Kershaw fishing servey and im pretty stoked! but I've never even seen one before so I don't really know wat to think of it. anyone have any info or insight for me on what it's like? too heavy, profile, ergos ect..?

Haven't handled a Volt SS, but I have a Volt II. I like the design. It is a good sized EDC knife w/ good ergos. The SS one looks like it's scaled up about 1/2" larger than the II. Looks to be pretty much the same size and weight to the Shallot (the Shallot's handle is 1/8" longer). That being the case, it should be a very nicely balanced knife.

Dang... now that I've been looking at it more, I find myself wanting a Volt SS too. ;) Congrats on winning yours.

ergos are great, the SS side slabs are a little slippy but the shape of the handle and the jimped backspacer help a lot. The blade is a great size for edc, long enough for just about anything but narrow enough to be a good slicer. It is heavier than the Piston, actually feels about the same weight wise as the Cryo, but you get some blade to go with the weight this time.

The speedsafe is fast after the break in. The fit and finish are not perfect cosmetically but mechanically it's great. I also like that there are no thumbstuds to hang up in the pocket, also keeps the lines of the knife looking clean.

It would be my regular EDC knife if I didn't have a Piston. I still carry it once and a while if I want something different or if I am going somewhere that I am worried about losing it. It has replaced my cryo completely.
