Does anyone out there know anything about this particular Bark River Knife and Tool Model, beyond the basic specs which I got off the vendor's website. It looks like a neat one for outdoor use, and based on the name I'm sure that's what it was designed for. Oh yeah, it's called the Forester, almost forgot. Knifeworks is the only place I've seen them for sale on the net so far and I was wondering if it's a limited run or just a new model. Not even on the BRKT site as far as I could tell. Any info much appreciated. Thanks.

Not sure of the details of the Forester. I just got a Highland Special and it is a jam up good knife. Very good craftsmanship

Mike made the Forester as a heavy chopper, it's loosely based on a Welsh Cledd (there might be a double edged model, too).

I had a chat about it with Mike Stewart and some guys over at KF (Mike posts a lot there) when I was looking for a big, heavy knife with a stainless steel blade.

I have a 5" drop point made from the same Böhler steel and it rocks, Mike's heat treat will get the best out of this steel for sure. I just ordered one with maple burl handles, I can't wait to get it!

It is made from a great company but I don't care for it because I'm a fan of blade guards, especially with knives as good and as sharp as these. You don't ever want to test the sharpness of such a big blade with your fingers slipping down the edge. Hands and fingers have so many nerves and ligaments that they are hard things to get repaired!!!

I have a scheduled trip to the northern rain forest in my country, I'm hoping that the Forester will arrive in time to come with me and show me what it can do.

BTW, it does have a guard.

The name of the knife comes from the root word "forest", which is a large area of land inhabited by numerous trees.

Does that help?:D

Seriously, it is a cool design, but not my cup of tea...

BRKT makes a LOT of knife for your buck!

no pun intended*

Mike is one of the best knife guys youll ever speak to/ learn from
