Any info on this display box?

This was obviously made to hold a 103 and I suspect it would have been a special one of some kind. Does anyone know which 103 was the original for this? Was it a Special Projects by Buck for some vendor or do you suppose it was an aftermarket item?

Yep.....sweet!

They have been selling VWC knives for awhile. Each in a case as nice as the one Dave posted.

Here's the knife with the box. The knife is a little plain, but I had to order one. I'll use the empty one for some other fancy 103.

John, Boy, you were quick and knowledgable with that info.. A nice box and knife. Thanks, DM

Here are the VWC knives from 2005 and 2007. Has anybody pictures from
other VWC knives?

That's a beauty Herbert. The website description says that the fox on the blade is "engraved". Is that correct or is is printed on there?

That's correct, Dave, they are engraved. These are good looking boxes
- but only usable for one type of knife :(

Thank you, Gordon. :)

It would not make any sense to pull out the uninteresting things   :foot: ;) :)

I got the one I ordered new with the knife and I have to say I really like it. The picture that I down loaded for post #6 truly does not do the etch justice. In the picture it looks like a pad print in black, but that's not the case. The etch of the hawk on the blade has a definate gold cast, but it's more subtle than most of the "in your face" bright gold you usually see on etched knives.

The handle is beautiful in spite of the gold lettering on it. The wood is darker and richer looking than any cocobola or cherrywood that I have. It's a dead ringer for the wood/finish that's on the Ducks Unlimited in the picture below. Even the gold lettering on the handle looks much better (IMO) than say, the white lettering on the handles of the Boone & Crockett fixed blades. The mirror polished blade with it's serial number really sets it off.

I'm going to try to get good photos of the blade etch, but I don't know if I'm good enough to capture it.

Something else that came out of this, is that I discovered when I got the empty box, not all 103's are created equal. For instance, the 1998 DY won't fit in the recess properly. I thought perhaps it was because it was customized, but I've found that the dimensions on most of my 103's vary by a noticeable amount if you check them closely, and several won't fit that cutout.

For instance, I have two, three line, 4 spacer models, one fits in the recess with room to spare and the other one won't fit at all.

That will be the topic for a future thread.

Is that the same organization? The trapper has the logo of the National Wild Turkey Federation (Virginia Chapter).

Dave, Don't think so, thats why I said I was only close......I think one progam knife issue begat the the other, note the 1992 date. Virginia is just a knife state I guess. I have another year VA NWTF in jigged bone also..

Sorry 300, I hadn't noticed that before.
