I was browsing on the HAMONOICHIBA website and I ran across this:
attachment.php

Does any one know if this is available in the States? If not, how hard and expensive is it to order from Japan? Thanks in advance for any info.
[Edited to add that I know it's a Wayne Goddard!]

I think those are Wayne Goddard designs. They were ava in small and large also in Micarta or Zytel. The micarta might be harder to find as well as the smaller version.

It's a discontinued knife.
I know a friend who has the FRN version.

sharpbits,
It's not that hard or expensive to get orders from Hamonchiba. You can send an email to them and get a quick response. They will take credit cards (with additional steps), and the shipping when I ordered mine was ~$15USD for delivery in <7 days. You can also use xe.com to see what the Yen price will convert to. I had a good experience ordering from hamonchiba.
I don't know if the Goddard's are still available in the US.

Be Excellent to each other.

SharpBits.

They are Wayne Goddards, C16PBK and C16PSBK with Zytel (FRN) handles. Both are discontinued. We have them on closeout. They are a great knife, we were sorry that Spyderco decided to discontinue them. The earlier models have a black linen micarta handle and were more money and now hard to find.

Hi John. Spyderco is making available to our disributors the option of building a run of a discontinued model (most models). They would naturally be exclusive to that distributor. The quantity would depend on the model.

Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.

The Wayne Goddard folder is a great knife, one of the best Spyderco has put out, and one of my favourite knives of any brand. I have the micarta version.

First off, Thanks everyone!

Sal: Are you saying that if John or another wholesaler wants to sell a formerly discontinued item they can have it built by Spyderco? If so that is good news. Thanks, Sal.

John: You do have the FRN version in stock? I could not find it on your site. Do you have any interest in having Sal make any micarta Goddards? Thanks, John.
[EDIT: Doh, I found them:o :o ]

I wonder if this means we may see a run of Qs or Rs.

Sal,

Thanks for the info regards exclusive runs of discontinued items.

We will certainly give it serious thought - another opportunity!

I have a NIB PE one someplace in my house. I'll look around. Email if you are interested. :)

Blades

I have a very large number of Spyderco knives. I carry many of them but the one that does the most work is by far this Wayne Goddard designed unit in ATS-55. When it was available I put more colleagues onto this knife than I did with the Endura. And, if my memory serves me correctly it was abut the same price for what I considered a lot more knife.

I was really sorry to see this knife discontinued. If you can find one, buy one, you really will not be sorry. It sits in the hand perfectly and my 50/50 blade is just perfect. It always goes fishing with me fresh and saltwater. Cant say enough about it.

My Land Rover Horror Story

That knife was one of my favourite knives by spyderco. The handle shape is real nice, much better than the endura.
