Hey guys, I just completed a purchase for a Strider SNG, and I love it, but I am confused as to the finish on the Ti scale, pocket clip, and the pivot screw...it looks as if it had a copper finish 1st then covered up with a bluish/purple finish? Just nothgin I have seen before, any additonal information woudl be greatly apprciated...I believe this is a Gen 6 version if that helps...

And of course here is a quick pic...

(this pic are from the original owner, I can't take pics now its too dark and I can't get the color to come out, but I will post pics tomorrow...)

Looks like anodizing.

Yeah I know its anodized but was this an aftermarket job? Or perhaps something offered by Strider?

Here is what the average finish is on the Titanium...ps, I got the pic from custom tacticals I hope it is ok to use it here...

What was your source of this knife? What does he/she have to say about it?

It looks pretty strange & rough for a Strider Ti finish.

Check this link for authentic Strider maker's stamps: http://www.badlandsforums.com/faq/HowDoIKnow.shtml

It has all the right stamps, the strider lgo on the back as well as the Paul Bos heat stamp and S30V USA under it all...the frotn has the regular Strider block letters I see on all other striders...I will contact the seller and ask what he knows about it and if he was the original owner...

Rub down the titanium with Windex and see if that improves it.

Ok, I will try that later when I get back from work, thanks...

It looks to me like Ti heat anodizing that has worn off.

Ok, well I tried the windex and it cleaned it a bit but the coloring stayed the same...

So you think its just worn off? That would be ok with me, I am just wonderign if this was from the factory or if someone had tried to modify it with a different anodization job you know...Im just confused as to what it was...I can see it as just worn now that I look at it more...I just want to make sure if its possible...

Actually looking at it more it can't be worn because its the same finish on the inside of the scale as well, all around the whole piece of Ti...

I talked to the owner and he had said that he got it off of another person, so hes not the original owner either, he had it for a while now, so he suggested I email Mick Strider, which I did, I will see what he sais...

Looks like it's been ti nitrate coated, to protect from scratches.

Interesting, would Strider have done that? Was it offered as an option or would it have been done on the secondary market?

I personally like it, I just wish it was still constant as apposed to worn a bit...
