Sorry guys, I am a little late getting here. That's my photo with the deer antler, no credit needed anytime someone want's to use one.
Is the 'threaded bolster" the proper term or does "grooved bolster" mean the same. I am guessing the photo came from a post I did on the Schrade contract 300 series over in the Buck forum. Now several years in the past.
Do you have any questions ? You notice that the knife with 'grooved bolsters' is not given or stamped with a model number. It was just listed as the "Buck Stockman" in Buck's catalogs. It became the first 301 when it lost it's grooves a couple of years later. There are three Schrade contract made versions of the 301, none stamped 301 on tangs. The grooved version and two others. Then the contract was switched to Camillus because the thru pin construction was easier to repair. Lots of Buck 300 collectors think these are their favorite 300 knives. 300Bucks
PS I think you last two guys have seen this but maybe someone hasn't. This is the section (of a sharpened down one) showing the Swinden key bolster pin. With extreme pressure you could bend the pin and get a loose blade. Buck, with its forever warranty, switched contracts for their folders to Camillus because of the extra cost in repairing the Schrade versions over the thru bolster pins of the Cami.
Abused Schrade Bucks - Loose clip blades from bent hidden pins. Actually you need to include possible damaged brass liner also.
Number 2 and 3. Second with Buck on reverse of secondary tangs and 3 with nothing on secondaries. Scale rivets good sized and round headed.
