Tantos look like very tough blades for me, I love Bob Lum's design with the "appleseed" edged tip. However, I will really like to see a tought lock like an integral lock on it. Does anyone know such a thing?

Chris Reeve's
Tanto Sebenza blade was designed by Bob Lum.
Identical blade.
You'll love it.

I think Tom Anderson makes a fine Tanto and has been offering integral locks recently. I would recommend you take a look at his website. I have not had the chance to see his knives in person, but I really like the looks of his knives and he makes what appears to be a very functional tanto. Some tanto style knives have a thicker edge at the front and I don't think these would perform well for practial daily uses.

Thanks guys.
Those are beautiful knives... just too expensive for me. My budget is less than $200.
I really wish spyderco could redesign their Ti lum tanto folder...:(

Take a look at the Benchmade 722's. They don't have an integral lock but they do have Axis lock which is a very good lock. I have one of these and it is the only Tanto I ever ever carry. It is functional and has a solid lock and can be had for just over $110.00 or so. I carry the partially serrated version (also the only serrated I carry) and would use it for defense or emergency type cutting of rope or seat belts etc. I never believed there was a reason to think about cutting seatbelts until 2 of my boys were in an accident and were suspened upside down until the youngest produced his Victorinox knife and cut himself loose, then helped the others. I have carried this knife since. It has the normal grind (not chisel) and has a good usable shape.
