Any interest in something like this (beware, marketing)?

Chiro, you KNOW this is the wrong forum for this sort of thing, regardless of your 'marketing' warning. Knock it off.

Don't the words "Moderator" mean anything on Bladeforums anymore? Anyway, I wanted to discuss a new knife I was working on, and introduce it at a nice price for people who were interested in an unusual keychain knife, but I guess I can't. Sorry for the confusion! In the past I've never had a Moderator say a thing to me, so I don't know why you think it is your authority to do so now. Must've slipped through the cracks the last time! Yippee!

Chiro you seem to be a little out of line with Para and I appreciate the fact that Para stepped in here. I think it is a good thing for all of us to police ourselves (including the moderator when he screws up).

There are several for sale forums where your post to sell would be welcome. All of us (makers, collectors and purveyors) have an interest in trying to keep this particular forum open for the discussion rather than the outright selling of custom knives. Think about it for a second. Do we really want this little forum to turn into a for sale forum? (When there are already many available).

A better approach might be to post a picture here discuss the knife, materials and challenges that it presented. Then post the prices in the for sale forum.

Thank you Paracelsus!
Gus

Thanks, Gus. It's just very inconsistent. But, NOW I do know, so no problems from my end of things. I just hope the same "ruling" goes for all the other makers that post advertisements in this forum. Paracelsus, no hard feelings, I just don't like being told what to do by people I don't know. You caught me right after I made the knife and I was really excited, so hopefully you understand my frustration had nothing to do with you and everything to do with my own attitudes. Anyway, I'll post another thread about the knife. Thanks, guys...

Thanks Steve!

After all this, it would be cool to see a pic and description

Steve, I have the same right as any other member to point out abuses of this forum. You are right, the 'other one' did slip through the cracks. Or rather, I decided it was not worth commenting about your previous blatant use of this forum to sell a new knife model (something very similar to Sean Perkins knives).

This is the second time I have seen you do this recently. The content of your post (now edited) even alluded to the fact that you understood this was the wrong place for this announcement. Making a feeble apology about it was pathetic. You have been around here long enough to know the rules.

I did not mean to 'tell you what to do' or expect you to edit your post. I only pointed out that you already knew the post was inappropriate in this forum. And you are completely correct, this problem is not just you. The 'no ads' rule should apply to all. This forum has had a great number of For Sale type posts recently and although I am not a moderator of this forum, I dislike reading blatent commercial posts.

Good luck with your knife making. I wish you well. I am sure folks who are interested in your new knife designs will contact you without you having to be so obvious about soliciting orders.

Indeed, no hard feelings on my end at all. I am sorry my comment upset you.

Now that everyone has had their fun lets get back to knives.
