First post! Hi everyone! :p

Just trying to find out if there are any people I may know here! :D

I'm mostly Irish (going back a long way) with family from Co's. Kerry and Wexford.

It seems like Ireland and the UK share similar views on knife use. I went on holiday to Kerry and wasn't able to find any knife shops, only finding a couple Swiss Army knives at an outdoor store. I was even a little worried about bringing my SAK because I wasn't able to find any definitive info on the knife laws.

My family emigrated from there (Cork - the city? the county? the harbor? who knows.) about the time of the great famine. Maybe one of these days I'll cross back over and have a look around. :)

I think it's more society over here, that knives are associated with scumbags, no matter if they have a rusty chinese copy used for stabbing people or a Fallkniven $200 + knife. The laws don't exactly help either. You can't have one on you unless you have a bloody good reason.

Part of the knife thing with the UK is that they are a group of relatively small countries, many of them can fit within Canada and still leave plenty of space for us. They just don't have the forested land mass the US and Canada has, so their need for knives outside of the home is downplayed.

I'd like to get an Irish knife for a friend; I used to see them around but haven't seen an Irish made knife in a while.

BTW this is the multi-tool section, walk over to the intro section and introduce yourself :)

Funny, every time I see this thread my mind goes "Whats and Irish Knife?"

Having something of a fondness for things Irish (and being some small part Irish),
got me wondering if there is a "style" of knife that is considered Irish?
