I am going on a business trip to Baltimore from May 21 to May 24. Are their any other forumites in the area? If so, maybe we could hook up?

Dennis,
Hope you don't mind my tagging along on your thread. I'm going to be in Baltimore from May 1 to 12 (would've been really cool if our trips had overlapped). I'll be staying/working in the inner Harbor area and would really enjoy hooking up with some of you Baltimore/DC knifeknuts.

Dennis and Dave, there are a bunch of BF members in the Baltimore area. Check this thread from our get together in January: http://www.bladeforums.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/000961-2.html

Email me particulars about where your staying and when. I'd like to get to meet you guys if possible. I live in Columbia MD, about 20 miles south of Baltimore. There is a new thread in community trying to arrange another luncheon sometime soon.

I live about 20 miles north of Baltimore in Sparks, Maryland.

I missed the last luncheon, but I heard it was fun. I'd like to make it to the next one especially if it was in the Baltimore area.

Did you have a private enough meeting place to show your knives without attracting unwanted attention?

Axel

I am a knife nut and I live in Maryland, about 30 minutes from downtown Baltimore. I've met up with Axel and Paracelsus before. I hope to meet up with you guys.

Cheers,
Damon

Paracelsus,
You have mail (but no subject -- whoops!).

I would like to meet some of you that live in the area, if possible. I am sure of the dates. As soon as I am aware of the exct hotel I will be at I will advise. How are the knife laws in Baltimore?

looks like I will be at the Omni. Is that a decent place?

The Omni? Never stayed there myself but from what I've heard it's a great hotel, anyone know if that's the one a block or so away from Camden Yards?

Dennis: Baltimore is totally safe now that we have one of the most repressive gun laws in the country. Why, Father Clinton was here today extolling our latest assault on the Second Amendment. You certainly need not fear being in Downtown Baltimore now, unless you plan to defend yourself in some way. That is frowned upon. Knives are next, folks. Believe it.

Might it not be better to have the meet in Northern Virginia 50 miles from @#%#$LAND Virginia is still a free place.

I will be in Baltimore attending a conference on Community Oriented Policing. But don't get me started on how I feel about that, please.

Well, I'll be in the inner Harbor area, which everyone assurea me is a pretty good area. They also warn me not to walk too far from that area.

I'm staying at the Tremont Plaza hotel.

Ironically, I was in Virginia late last month. Should have tried to meet up with some of you then (would have been tough -- I was only there for three days).

Yeah, the Inner Harbour is a very nice place, very scenic, huge tourist attraction really.

As far as the new gun control bill goes, there is only one small facet of the bill that could be viewed as an impedence to the right to bear arms (not allowing any juvenile convicted of a violent crime or felony to own a handgun until said person is 30 yrs. old), the rest of the bill has nothing to do with restricting the right to own a weapon.

Knives being next? They'll never be restricted any more than they are in California, and even then as long as you don't do anything stupid with it, you probably don't need to worry.

Gentlemen, perhaps we can arrange our lunch, as discussed in the URL below, to allow one or the other of our visitors to attend. I would, however, suggest going outside of the city of Baltimore for parking and other reasons, perhaps Columbia, Burtonsville, or Ellicott City. Someone from Baltimore could pick up our visitor and bring him along. I live in Virginia and would prefer that any lunch be in a restaurant between DC and Baltimore, but there are other reasons for not wanting to go into either city.

Does anyone wish to take a lead in trying to organize something? As I have noted, Seibel's Restaurant in Burtonsville has a side room that might work out.

Mciampeg. there is a serious NEW restriction in the new Maryland gun law. TO buy a pistol after Oct. one MUST go through a pistol proficiency course. The State Police charge $200.00 for the coarse!. I dont know who will run the coarse, But if it is the coppers you can forget anyone but the rich buying anymore handguns in peoples republic of Maryland. Personnally, i have what i need but uninformed sheeple(those who never fought the gun laws) are going to be screwed. State representative Ferguson, from Frederick County, has proposed that any ex military citizens will not have to take the coarse fro handgun ownership. Our next governor, Kennedy woman, will abolish private ownership of handguns and "assault rifles". This Will happen in this rotten state.

Back to knife get together, I am over in Brunswick and want to make the next get togethere. Baltimore ,however, does not turn me on at all. have it in columbia like the last time.

dsvirsky: According to June Blade magazine, Appalachian Knifemakers' Rendevous scheduled for May 5-7 in Monkton, Maryland (just outside Baltimore, thankfully). Don't know exactly where yet, but will post if/when I find out. Does anyone know its whereabouts?
