Any large swedged Sebs?

Buy a Seb and then send it along with $21 to CRK for them to put a swedge on it. It is not a standard feature on the knives therefore you have to pay extra to have it added.

It's an additional profile check out along the top of the blade, to give a more pointer tip, rather like an old fashioned bowie. It can also increase penetration ability.

Sometimes even sharpened to create a double edge.

Matt......Here's a snap of a knife with a swedge. It can be seen with the darker shadow along the blade top.

Sebenzas are rather rare to find with a swedge, not sure if they're a low numbers seller :( so i've only got this model to show you what I meant.

GarageBoy.......Not sure about current stock, but New Graham have swedged Sebenzas

Hope this helps you further, sir.

RoeFisher will crk sharpen the false edge(swedge)? That would be very tempting.

That is a very good question, and one I cannot answer. Obviously it can be done, but whether or not CRK provide this service, I have no idea.

But an email or phonecall will soon let you know.

Incidentally, I have a swedge sharpened on an old Bowie knife to create a double edge and it is an invaluable addition when in use outdoors. I nearly use it as much as the main blade, when making tinder, splitting kindling and making cloth strips, etc.

The real benefit is - it can do these little jobs, which involve a lot of blade work - and I still have a fresh main blade  Not unlike two knives.

Of course, if you are doing brute work and just have one knife, there is a loss of tip strength which may be worth remembering. But, I carry a medium axe for that sort of thing :grumpy: I like to keep the knives for lighter duties.

Cheers

Mark :)
