Any leads on an Endura 4 ZDP-189 PE?

I can readily find CE and SE models, but PEs seem to be out of stock at my regular haunts.

I haven't kept up on the news, so I'd like the straight dope from the hardcore Spydie faithful. . . .

1. Are the Enduras solid ZDP or are they laminates of ATS-34 and ZDP?
2. Are these knives going to be regularly run, or would I best be advised to settle for one of the combo edges that are still available?
3. Do you know of anyone who still has PEs in stock?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I decided to give the guy on ebay a try. If this piece measures up to the hype, my 806D2 is going to be vacationing in the safe.:D

It's a great knife for the money, but the "feel" of it is very different than the BM.

Will be interested to hear what you think after you handle/use it.

Since my Pacific Salt PE is essentially an FRN Endura with an inferior clip system, I'm afraid the Endura 4 will not seem that much of an EDC stretch as I am already used to the differences in "feel" between the two brands.

Here's what I am expecting to find:

The 806D2 will still seem more substantially built than a steel reinforced Endura.
The 806D2 will still seem easier to open and close because of the Axis lock.
The Endura will be a lighter and slimmer carry.
The lockback will be perfectly adequate and just "different" in one hand opening and closing.
The 806D2 will be out cut by the ZDP. Relative toughness remains to be seen.
The 806D2 will be a better penetrator with a weaker tip design.
The Endura is more utilitarian in blade shape.
The Endura will never look as badass. Folks are scared by the Benchmade. That is a pro or a con depending on who is being intimidated.
If something screws up on the Endura, chances are high that if I post about it, Sal will personally tell me to send it in.;)

What remains to be seen is the balance point of the reinforced FRN product versus the fully lined BM and to what extent I might be able to dismantle the Endura if I wish to. Being able to tear down my Benchmades, if for no other reason than to dry one out, is one of the reasons I like them so much.

I like both companies, but I don't like all the negativity generated between the hotheads in each camp.

Boats, I think you'll find pretty much what you're expecting to based on that
extra-thorough post.

I think a couple of things may surprise you, but not much.

Definitely interested to hear what you think after you receive the ZDP.

Just so you will know, the blade is solid ZDP-189, it is regular production (although it may be somewhat limited by steel availability) and it IS a cuttin' son-of-a-gun :D

I got mine from a seller on EBay that I have bought from before.

The blade is definitely solid ZDP-189.

If you want something really amazing, get the knife and send it to Tom Krein for a full flat regrind, like I did.

That flat grind looks amazing.

However, the flat-saber grind on the endura still cuts like no other knife I've ever seen. It's just too sharp to be true! Fantastic knife.

The Enduras and Delicas with ZDP-189 are solid ZDP-189.

Yes, it's a terrific cutter and a great knife for the money.

Thanks to Sal & the crew over at Spyderco for delivering "the goods" once again.
