Any life-saving knife stories?

More specifically, life-saving as related to emergency situations requiring a cutting tool as opposed to as a weapon.
What type of knife was it?

Not wuite, but saved myself from a broken leg I bet. I was on the roof of the building cutting a tarp off, and I began to slide. I had nothing to grab, and thought i might be in trouble. So, I pulled out my Genesis EDI, backhand grip, and stuck it in the roof to stop from sliding. Eventually regained my grip and got down.
