I'm seeing this particular Kershaw doesnt get much "air time" around here. Well here is my mini-review, feel free to comment:

Appropriately named, this knife is meant for work. The finger grooves in the polymer handle make applying pressure for heavy cutting comfortable and safe. The wharcliffe type blade is set at such an angle to the handle that botrh slash and pull type cutting is optimal (to me anyway). The flipper type speed-safe is rightfully added to this knife for one handed operation. Closing it one handed is also pretty simple using the liner lock system
The combination of lightweight handle material and speed-safe mechanism makes for a really neat "lockup" sound. The clip is small but sturdy, and mounted high, so the knife rides low in the pocket.

So if you work with your hands, or qualify for one of Americas "Dirty Jobs" I highly recommend the Needs Work.

Nice review. They are extremely stout knives, and couldn't be more appropriately named.

This will probably be the second Kershaw I pick up after I track down an orange zing. I really like the looks of the Needs Work, it isn't your basic knife design for sure!

I love the "Needs Work " been EDCing for about 8 months now. Very sturdy, stays sharp, Just a good all around knife for me. And if it was all I had in a SHTF, I dont think I would feel undergunned.

I couldn't decide which Need's Work I wanted so I bought all 3.
Plain, Partial serrated and Black coated.
And yes, the speed safe is an attention getter when opened.
Every time I hear it I think to myself "That is just awesome!"

I would like one, but there's just too many other Kershaws I want more at the moment.
Plus, I figure the longer I wait the better chance of me finding a ridiculously good deal on one.

Sometimes that is true. I couldn't wait though. Impulse, Impulse, Impulse!

It is the same old question for me every time.
"Do I want to put fuel in my truck? Or do I NEED a new Kershaw?"

i have a needs work which is on loan to a friend who is a medic on the fire department here in town. i fine tuned the edge after getting it and have only touched it up twice. its a great knife and always ready for work.

Doesn't have to be blue, but I prefer the handle style of that one to the normal version.

You can probably only find that one in Tualatin, OR, at the Kershaw factory, on the desk on one Mr. Welk.:D

Dang. I was hoping there was a sprint run of that type or something.

Oh there's definitely a sprint run of those alright. See, here's the way it works. You go to the factory, get an appointment to see Thomas, make up some BS story about knives and why you need to talk to him about...blah blah blah, locate the blue aluminum Needs work, grab that sucker, and yes, you guessed it!!, SPRINT right on out the front door of the Kershaw factory, jump into your getaway car, and floor it all the way home!!

Truly the most exhilarating sprint run you will ever know!!:D;)

In a building where almost everyone is sure to be within reach of a sharp piece of metal?

Exhilarating would be an understatement. :D

If I got my hands on the Cadre, they'd have to pull out the defensive line...
