Curious if anyone has one and has used it some. Would love to hear some reviews

I don't have any experience with the Golok, but am quite fond of the Von Tempsky, Svord can make a big hunk of L6 into a very formidable chopper with style, it's hard to go wrong with any of their stuff really, most of it's just too simplistic to fail, and pretty reasonably priced. Very interning company with an array of cool products. Their convex grinds are usually kinda dull IMO, but my Von Tempsky sharpened up nicely on a Japanese Waterstone. They recommend to strop them after sharpening them on a stone, with a strop loaded with compound to sorta round the edge off a bit. I'd give it a shot if I were you.

Ive been drooling over the design but wont bite cause I think its a little expensive for a machete.

I've got one. The handle's have a slight bit of movement. I don't notice it when I use it. It is sharp, not razor sharp. It is well made and I like it, but I thought the fit/finish would be a little better. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371236788.183277.jpg

I think the Martindale handle felt shorter, but after some sanding it was fine. The Svord needed a little adjusting for hotspots. The blade looks much better and comes sharp. The Martindale comes duller than a butter knife.

I cut up some limbs yesterday with it. It doesn't chop as well as my GI ontario, but it's faster, more agile and does a good job. Of course the edge was fine after reducing the limbs. It's bark on the edge.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1371843541.958277.jpg
Starting to like it more, I may fill in the handle gap with some epoxy.

At the going price I think it should be very nicely finished. Loose handle scales, hot spots--I think maybe I'll try the Kiwi Machete instead, at half the price.

The example Mjolnir74 has would be covered by warranty as the assembly is faulty. But yes, the Kiwi Machete is quite the tool. :)

I may try one of those Kiwi's from you. 👍It's a tool and it really doesn't bother me enough to send it back. I only noticed the scales because I looked for any movement. You can't feel any movement in use. The gap shouldn't be there.

Just an update. I bought the Kiwi from Baryonyx( great service, thanks) and chopped a few limbs today for comparison. The golok hits harder and I like the handle better. It's heavier and the blade feels a tad bit thicker. Also the golok sheath is much much better. The kiwi is super light weight. It would be nice for a hike when you're trying to cut weight. I like them both, but the golok feels and looks like it's in a different category.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1373062293.141756.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1373062370.172993.jpg
