I'm a hobbiest looking for any fellow hobbiest or makers in San Antonio, to learn from or share ideas with. I have so far completed one file knife, and have a few stock removal blades in varying stages of completion. I have pretty much every thing I need for a begainer, including a grinder and heat treating oven. Just looking for others in my area who share the same passion for knifemaking.

Look up Johnny Stout /www.stoutknives.com/ in New Braunfels, TX. He does a grind-in twice a year that brings in a lot of great makers from around Texas. I went to the last one and was amazed at how much I learned and the generosity of all the makers that showed up. I saw Mr. Stout at the Texas Knife Show in Round Rock last weekend and he said he is doing another grind-in around September.

I live in Austin and also have been bitten by the knifemaking bug, but I'm just doing kit knives by hand at the moment. If you want to get together and talk knives, send me a message.

thanks guys I will definitly look into both sites, I actualy have Johnny Stout's hollow grinding DVD and hadn't noticed he was so close by.

I was pretty sure that you can't swing a dead possum (or armadillo) without hitting a knifemaker in Texas :D

The ABS Expo is January?
