I posted this over on another forum but thought someone here might know.
Ok, I've been trying to work out a mystery for a while now. I have a Mauser Kar 98, stamped Danzig 1918 that I'd like to get a new stock for. Currently, it has a beautiful Bishop stock on it but it is unfortunately a left-handed setup. I've seen custom Mausers with Boyd's laminated thumbhole stocks and really want one. My problem is this;
My Mauser has a small-ring receiver, as it measures about 1 1/4" before the barrel. I figured that was all the info I needed to order a new stock until I found this:

According to the picture, the screw holes in the trigger guard should measure 7 5/8" since my Mauser is a small ring but this is not the case and the measurement is closer to 7 7/8". So which stock should I be looking for? I don't think Boyd's has a small ring stock anyway but if I find another stock on another site, I should be buying the small ring, right? This is ridiculously frustrating and the information I'm finding with google is so confusing that I don't know what to think. Can any of you Mauser guys shed some light on this?
