Any military guys wear the Izula from your neck in your duty uniform?

Just curious if any military guys have worn their Izula from their neck on base or out in the field and if that is even allowed by military regulations.

Any thing's possible. The knife would be under/"out of sight" of a uniform shirt, then the protective/ballistic vest would be over that shirt. The knife would be very inaccessible unless all that protective gear was off. I do carry a neck knife under my kit, because I'm a fanatic!, but most would not. In fact, you very rarely even see fixed blades on any uniformed personnel in the current War Zones. Knives are just not as common as you would think on uniformed personnel. I think that many commands have made this the case. Hope this answers your question.

On post during a normal day maybe, but probably not in the field/downrange. When I was in, I found that you didn't want anything between your IBA and your chest. Even small things like zippers and your ID tags quickly make tender/painful hotspots. Can't imagine a neck knife! :D

Oh hells no I don't wear anything between my IBA and my uniform. That would be VERy uncomfortable.

Back in Garrison the AR 650-1 (army regulations regarding wear and appearance of the uniform) you can't have anything hanging from your neck in plain view. I guess one could have it under the uniform but why when you can just attach it to you belt or in a pocket.

When I was a Military Cop working w/ concealable body armor under my BDU top I wore an Emerson Lagriffe around my neck and ran the chain under the velcro on my vest to keep the knife stationary. This is the only time I've ever found a neck knife to be remotely practical for combative use.

This was strictly while working in an LE capacity on base. In the field a neck knife would just flop around and get in your way.

This is absolutely true. Back when I was in, I could not even stand a small medallion. I tried the neck sheath thing while in garrison but it was more trouble than it was worth. The chain that held the sheath had to be out of sight per regulation and the knife was not very easy to get to while wearing BDUs (I missed the newer ACU uniforms).

For garrison duty, I never carried anything but a folder in my pocket. While deployed and in the field, I had a fixed blade attached to my IBA.

I never did this and never heard about anyone else doing as it is extremely impractical. You would not be able to get to the knife as you pants are bloused at your boots in one of several methods. Next, unless you sit at a desk all day, having a knife in your boot is about the last place I would want one if I had to walk anywhere.

i will probably wear it around my neck when the one i ordered today comes in. i dont think anyone will say anything. if you go by 670-1 you cant wear it there however, if you go by 670-1 you also cant wear it on your belt of have a folder clipped to the inside of your pocket. as for wearing it around your neck, i wouldnt be able to handle that for reason like 897 on why i hate acu's. even the zipper under your plates suck.

i find it alot more comfortable carrying it in my pocket, besides if i were to get caught with that around my neck i would proubly get my a$$ chewed.

Ahhhhh yea you would if you were my soldier!! LOL When I was a younger EM I did silly crap like that but now that I am and have been a NCO for a while I realize the error of my ways. We are here to take care of soldiers and enforce the standards. I don't wear anything on my neck other than dog tags and nothing on my belt even though I could get away with a cell phone. Got to set the proper example for my EM's or stuff gets carried away!!

I am down range right now and a lot of guys wear some kind of fixed blade on their kit but almost everyone has a folder in a pocket or on their belt. A neck knife just seems impractical for this environment and US GARRISON IRAQ does not like any kind of individuality

In garrison....hell no. If I wear anything more then my dogtags under my skivy shirt some senior marine would snatch me up. I usually run a Boker Turbine(folder) in my pocket

In the field....neck knife just would get in the way. However I carried my Izula in afghanistan horizontal on my belt just above my butt crack. Will prolly take my RC5 for next deployment and run it on my leg

i agree with the comment no under body armor for sure. i use to run my dog tags threw my belt loop in and tuck them in my back pocket in iraq and afghanistan so they didn't rub me raw with they would quickly do it in that heat mixed with you sweating like you do over there.

in garrison your not suppose to but if you used dog tag chains nobody would notice if you really wanted to do it. me i just carried a lot of pocket knives and a one fixed blade in horizontal carry which i still do weakside to this day even in civies. its perfect for fighting/keeping someone away from my strong side pistol.
