any music lovers ?

One of my all time favorite singers is from Canada...Burton Cummings (ex-lead singer of The Guess Who). He has an excellent voice.

I play guitar (and other stringed instruments) and build cigar-box instruments as well. I just turned a cheap steel-string acoustic into a "dobro" of sorts by adding a resonator. Turned out pretty well... Maybe I'll post a pic or two.

I tend to like "roots" music; blues, bluegrass, folk.... Singer-songwriter types are my favorites.
Currently digging Ray Wylie Hubbard, Sam Bush, James McMurtry, and Dave Alvin.

@mwerner
if you like bluegrass check out "iron horse"
pretty good, and they did a metallica tribute, all bluegrass

@glockman
burton is also really good
my fave is "friends of mine" by the guess who
i listen to a radio show frequently, by randy bachman, and he tells many stories about the music inustry as he made his way thru it over the decades
i belive its called vinyl tap, on cbc radio

Been really digging Dead Mans Bones again, great album to listen too in the fall. It's Ryan Gosling's band, the actor from Breaker High and Young Hercules.

Try these on for size... relatively unknowns with strong potential. Give them full play to appreciate!;

This is a local acoustic band called Everyday Thing. I used to catch them quite a bit at the local joints but I haven't seen much from them lately. They put out a CD but it seems they've disappeared since.

They don't have any youtube videos but they got a good sound and some great lyrics. I had hoped to hear more from them.

Everyday Thing sounds pretty good, would definetly be a band to see in a bar, or around the campfire

did any of you guys like the creepshow? (from my original post)

Thanks for the heads up! I have always wanted to see them live. Do you know if they are planning on releasing more albums together, or is it just a tour? Looks like i'll be taking a road trip to New York in march, doesn't seem like they are playing any shows in the Toronto area. Bummer.
