Every September here in central WA, we gather our gear together and head for elk camp. Some years ago, the members of my family and I decided to go completely traditional in our muzzleloading gear.
I made us some Russell Green River Dadley's with elk horn scales, and we sold our inline Knights for Lyman Plains Rifle kits in .50 cal.
We checkered the stocks, used wood burners to customize them, and my uncle made some amazing leather sheaths and rifle totes.
We would like some company this September. If anyone out there is a traditional muzzleloading enthusiast, and lives in Washington, we would love to have you out at elk camp. Make it a mountain man rendezvous.

Hopefully about to place an order for one of the North Star West Chief's trade musket. I have one of the generic Hawken's rifles but have gotten really intrested in the smooth bores!!

My wifey got me my first muzzle loader by Thomson Center this past Christmas! Can't wait till hunting season in NJ and Pa!

It is such a (pardon the pun) blast to blackpowder hunt, especially in a traditional sense. I enjoy traditional 'loaders much more than inlines.

I did the in-line thing for a while for practical reasons, as a way to lengthen the season. After a while it went from pellets and sabots to powder and conicals, now I want to go further. Maybe even a flinter...

I've been thinking about building a flintlock. Here in the northwest it's usually warm and dry for regular muzzleloader season, so flash pan powder getting wet isnt an issue like it is on the coast.

I just got a Lyman's Deerstalker .50cal SS, five days ago. Went out a punched some beautiful holes the first night I had it. I have not shot a muzzleloader since about 1988, and man oh man I have been reintroduced into some of the most fun of the shooting sports. Not to be corny but what a blast. It takes you back to the day of one shot one kill practice and I found taking this trip back in time to be so much more satisfying and relaxing.

Those of you who haven't cross that creek yet really should find a club or someone who has a rifle/pistol/shotgun and go shooting with them first. I believe it will benefit you in many ways as in shooting skills, patience, inner peace, it really is fun!!!

I have a TC Omega (50 cal) and have yet to get very interested in shooting it much. I orginally wanted to hunt deer earlier in the year, and my hunting interests have sort of taken a tumble due to deer leases and all the crap associated with that game.
