All these fantastic knives are sure to break the bank, got my zdp blur and it is great (it's a blem). Love the Tyrades, love the ZT blems, love the Zing....I would love to know, are there any boutique runs or new knives in the future with S60v, S90v, S110v, or ZDP?

Maybe Thomas will chime in....

Kershaw is always working on something for us maniacs. Two of the next to come up are:

ELMAX
Carbon, C 1.70 %
Chromium, Cr 18.0 %
Manganese, Mn 0.30 %
Molybdenum, M 1.0 %
Silicon, Si 0.80 %
Vanadium, V 3.0 %

M390 PM
carbon 1.90
chromium 20
si .070
mn . 030
MO 1
W .60
V 4

Both are Powder steels. The M390PM is a european(?) version of 20CV. It's coming out in the "Volt". 3 7/8th inch blade, Ti Framelock. with G10 inlays

El Max is coming out in the Speedform. 3 3/4th inch blade, Ti framelock.

Both are composite blades, with the remainder of the blade being CPM D2.

When are those coming out - seems like it has been forever and a day since they were first mentioned.

Composite blades

So the cutting edge will still be CPM D2. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but why go through all the trouble of developing a new steel just to use in the spine. 14C28N works just fine for that IMO.

You got it backwards, the spine is CPM D2. It was chosen for aesthetic reasons because it etches more darkly than the stainless steels.

We introduced these 2 new steels at the Blade Show in June. Lead times on both ELMAX and M390 takes quite a while. Parts are cut, hopefully a Jan. delivery.

Congrats on post number 2000 Joe!

Congrats on post number 2000 Joe!

Thanks! I still try to do more learning than talking. This place is full of knowledge just waiting to be learned. From knife makers and guys on the cutting edge of their profession, to people in the industry that are responsible for the knives I use daily, like Thomas W., and Sal G. . Retail people, everybody. What a place! Joe

I know I asked for what is new, but are there any runs of existing knives planned that are not currently offered in these steels?

Also, I have googled again to find the hardness RC of the 2 new steels as heat treated by kershaw with no luck, does anyone know?

I did find the volt available for preorder for $135.95....

Also - are there any other color runs for the ZDP blurs, or will brown be the only one? Might have to franken-blur...

I'd love to have blue scales for the ZDP Blur, but with only 200 made, I'm not gonna frankenblur one of those. Besides, the more I look at the dark chocolaty brown, the more I like it. I am definitely going to etch the blade tho.

Can you post a pic when you etch the blade? I did not think the zdp would take to it.
