Any news about the next Mule at Blade?

I'm itching to try some of the steels that they supposedly have on deck.

Anyone with any info?
 
Well MT14 should be coming out soon since the Para2s in the same steel (CTS 204P) just came out so we should start seeing some news about them.

And MT17 is supposed to be in K390. I don't expect to be seeing that one soon though, and when we do see it I expect a higher price than usual.
 
I'm willing to shell out more for a K390 blade. Compared to a custom, the Mule team blanks have been a great bargain (as long as you have the means to buy/fashion grips and a sheath and like the ergos). I'm all for it.
 
I have several of the Mule Team blades. My 16 is off at my enabler's, er, my 'service provider's' getting Carbon Fiber scales. Can't wait to get it back. He is also making a cross draw, horizontal, up tilted Kydex sheath for it. Oh my!
 
Didn't hear anything at Blade - but the MT17 in K390 is supposedly in production now. The Mule Team project allows for the Spyder Crew to test production techniques and processes on new steels - so I'm sure they are taking their time to figure out how to work with this new steel. It's a learning curve thing.

They'll be announced for sale when they've got them up to quality.

Perhaps off topic, but if you catch the release of a mule what is the typical price? I've toyed with picking a couple up but it seems the ones that are still at dealers/ebay etc. are pushing $150, to me that doesn't seem like much of a deal after you figure another $100 for a sheath and scales. Are they significantly cheaper when released?
 
Yes. I think the most expensive one so far was about $90, and the cheapest went under $20. The price at the Spyderco Factory Outlet for us is the same as a dealer would pay. Buy two at a time and the shipping is free, although you had to buy three of the 9Cr18Mo Mules to get up to the free shipping mark.

You can only buy them new from Spyderco. The last 3 that I've seen available were under $100. The XHP was even available as a blem for a little less.
