Any time you have more than one person involved in the decision making process, nothing happens quickly. The product development group finally decides what they think will sell and make big bucks. The engineers then start making prototypes and developing the process. The bean counters come along and kill it, because "That way will cost too much." So back to the drawing board goes engineering. Development group hears about a new steel and or handle material that is "slicker than goose poop" and send changes to the engineers, who were JUST ABOUT DONE". After several iterations of design, development, engineering, bean counting, then testing of product occurs and the whole process starts over because someone forgot something, or found something "bad" or the manager changed and he/she wants to make changes just to "show they are in charge and making stuff happen." Then by the time the product is release, it is 3 generations behind the "new and improved" whatever.
Blade will be just over a year after acquisition. That would be fairly rapid for a major corporation to gear up a whole new line. I prefer Kabar's normal way of waiting to announce anything until it's ready to go. Unlike some companies I could name that still haven't produced some of the goodies they announced at Blade/Shot several years ago. The new BK21 excepted. We're still waiting with "baited" breath!!!! And that bait is getting putrid.

I'm guessing nothing Ek until 2017. Like ZZ said.......slow process.

I think I like the ones with the wood handles and the lead rivets best. But I would like another Ek (or two) from Ka-Bar.

The lead rivets as on the originals is my strong preferance, they make a lot of sense from a maintainance standpoint and make the knife balance like John Ek wanted it to, but.................I don't think that Kabar will want to exclude California from their sales. We will continue to have to pay way to much for originals or to keep the few custom makers busy that do it this way.

Not one that I am interested in unfortunately. I'm so bummed I didn't buy the Ek I wanted when it was available and that I stupidly gave away the only real Ek I ever owned. I do still have the original "Your Silent Partner" book though, which is pretty cool itself.
