Uncle E mentioned in a previous thread that these will be released sooner & will be made in Taiwan................

On second thought I went back & found the original thread by Uncle E, he says more details about BK1 & BK6 will be available after Blade Show......isn't this coming up soon....??

Yeah I remember hearing or reading that. The thing is, anyone who knows isn't going to post it here or even tell you they know. That's the way it goes....

Yeah, this weekend. I wouldn't expect them to start rolling out Monday morning though, but they will be here sooner than later.

Man I want a Patrol Machete or two, badly. I'm passing on a Condor Golok right now because of this release.

hmmmm.............did I pass?

DId you ever get the Junglas you were after?

Flying colors! I might have been a little drunk when I gave that exam. :D

I do own a Junglas now. I won one at, of all places, a Beckerhead gathering. :p

The 9 beats it, hands down. MO.

the camillus edge geometry for the brute was ... poor. the older blackjack model is ... excellent. it's more choppy than cutty if you know what i mean, sticks less.

imho, if one gets a brute, and profiles it properly, for the desired tax, and one is adept at snap cuts, it might do well.

course, nothing does as well as a machax :) all praise the machax, aaaaaaah mennnnnnnn...

thank you! thank you! i'll be here all week. no really :)

Now that's interesting. I always wondered why the Brute was seen as such a bad chopper when I can hack wood up with it fairly well. I went through a 5-6 inch bone dry jack pine yesterday. It was work but it was biting fairly deep and didn't take that long. But what you said is likely the key. I had reprofiled the edge and did a very long session on it with the Lansky kit before putting it away months ago. I agree that there are many better wood processing options out there for sure. But, I would be fine with the Brute in an emergency shelter building scenario. But yes, if you need to cut up an abundance of wood, look somewhere else.

Will the 'new' Brute offer any advantages over the old?

Many, including better grinds and balance. Toooj is nearly super human when it comes to this stuff, and Kabar isn't into selling fruit, so don't expect lemons. :D

For me, the overall desing left alot to be desired. With the blade shape (recurve :barf:), thickness, and blade weight, I just didn't like it. That's my opinion and does not matter, but when I have to heft around a large blade, I want something I like having around.

The edge geometry on the 9 is much better, better balanced, and lighter to lug around. And it can do anything the Brute can. Maybe better.

I'll take the 9 over the BK1 anyday of the week. But that's just me talkin'.

price, availability, price :>

probably a little different in profile, better cutter/chopper. don't recall specs on thickness.

we'll see soon!
