I've been waiting (as all others have) for this one-of-a-kind knife for years (as all others have). So.....I just can't help myself in asking if there is any new release date info.

Regards

Hi Bladeprince,

We're getting closer. It has changed some as we continued to refine/improve the lock and the design.

We did a proto of the trainer last week. So far so good.

Eric says October.

I know it's been a "long time coming", my apologies. We hate to come out with something that is not as close to right as we can make it coming out of the shute.

This model has some challenges and fitting a lock is difficult because of the lack of room. I guess we could have avoided the challenge and just made it a Walker Linerlock or a Reeve Integral Lock, but we wanted to provide Shivworks with a unique and highly functional piece.

Emerson knives agreed to permitting the new removable "wave".

We used the model to refine a new lock and the new Emerson "wave". I can assure you that we didn't plan this kind of develoment time, but sometimes it happens with new concepts.

Also, we work on quite a few models in product development at the same time. Probably too many, but that's one of my flaws;) . Pobody's Nerfect.

Very nice of you to respond. I'm sure it will be worth the wait and I also respect your choice of wanting to provide a quality knife, as you always do.

Regards and thank you

I want one...Drool.

By the way I just read Emerson's patent on the U.S. patent office webiste. Emerson's original design appears to have been a screw in stud similar to the one on the P'Kal. The patent desribes the wave exactly as it is on the P'Kal. The way it is written it appears that they added the part about the hook as part of the blade later, probably in one of the many revisions. Interresting stuff!

October is a long ways away, sigh. Gives me time to come up with plausible excuses though. I can't wait!

It is scheduled for regular production, although probably not large quantities.

Sal can you update us on the Pikal?

Malcolm

Not Sal, but TazKristi said here:

Our last Pilot run went very well. Several of us are carrying prototypes as I type this ( I'm very happy to say I have one in my pocket). We are targeting delivery after the first of the year (2007).

Given this models clear SD role, it's very important that we do all of our due diligence.

So, if this one is one for you, hang in there!

Kristi

Hope this helps some.

David
