Alright people
here it is!
Not only did I get some information of the new folder, I actually got to hold, fondle, play with, and otherwise thoroughly check out the first proto-type model returned to Strider by BK Inc. Striders execs were at the Chesapeake Bay Area blade show I attended this past weekend.
It is a real beauty. The one I saw was not sharpened but had a Strider style tanto blade made from ATS-34 which is what I was told was the steel of choice by Strider. The handle material was from G-10 carbon fiber. Strider said they would have preferred to have titanium scales, but that didnt happen. They said that option would be available from them possibly in the future. I must be careful, I dont know how much of what they told me I should really repeat
Im trying to stay on their good side. They do make really nice knives if youre a fan of the tactical units.
(edit note: I forgot to say that the knife is a one hand opener by thumb stud with a nice belt clip. On the proto-type the stud was a little too high and needed to be moved down some for the production run.)
Proportionally, the handle was much larger than the blade really needed, to accommodate the steel, but that is my opinion. It is not unlike the solitaire cross-lock model when it comes to proportions. However, it did not distract from the shear strength, beauty and power of this knife. Believe me
youll want one of these things the minute you lay your hands on it.
Needless to say, anyone that knows me, (i.e., Joe, Chuck, CJ, John, Larry, etc.) will tell you that I already tried to buy the knife from Strider. FORGET IT. Its not for sale!!!!!
Oh well, its great to dream. I was assured that the knife is coming out in January, 2000. And will be presented at one of the major knife shows (not in my region
so I forgot) by both Buck and Strider.
Hope that helps.
