I know this is off-topic (which is actually on-topic for RC) but my girlfriend and I have been canning a lot of food this year. Potatoes, green beans, Lima beans, tomatoes, etc. Also growing okra, squash and corn. We have a pretty big garden every year and save a ton on food costs throughout the year. Just wondering if yall are gardening.

Maters, silver queen corn, green beans, bell peppers, jalapenons, scotch bonnets and watermelon.

My friend has a huge garden he just stared. I can't wait until the peppers are ripe so I can make so buffalo wings.

I have a decent sized garden growing. Got some Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Green peppers, Jalapeno, Habenero, and strawberries mainly. There are some other peppers, like the banana peppers, and cayenne, but only 1-2 plants of those.

Doing my first garden this year. Pumpkins, corn, green beans, tomatoes, bell peppers, jalapenos, and cucumbers. I wish that I had started this a long time ago.

I used to have a decent one, but this year it's just a few plants in containers on the porch.

I don't garden (used to) but I'm thinking about getting back into it as part of my disaster preparedness plan. :)

This would have been a bad year to start a garden... we have had very little rain. :(

YES!

Sweet 100 Tomatoes are coming in right now...they are a very, very high yield cherry tomato. As far as taste goes, my family loves them, I think they're better than anything you'll get at a supermarket, but not the best tasting you can grow at your own home...

This has been an interesting experiment as I'm growing an "urban" garden - that is, all the plants are on the porch in those big homer jugs you buy at Home Depot for $2.50.

The tomatoes are great, herbs (mint, basil, stevia) are growing fine, hot peppers are growing...but sweet peppers aren't. Who knows, in New England we've had a lot of rain and not a lot of sun, so I'm not sure if that's a factor.

I'd love to have a strawberry patch....30 bushes or so, would be awesome for pies, family and friends, and treats.

By the way, the Izula has gotten a lot of work in in the garden. Nice.

I can't seem to grow S^*T!!

This Texas heat seems to cook veggies on the vine.

Oh yeah... green beans, tomatoes, potatoes, strawberries, corn, cucumbers and jalapenos!

We have a LOAD of green beans and cucumbers (pickled). The tomatoes get eaten up pretty quick. The jalapenos make great salsa and hot sauce.

Life is good round here in the summer! :)

I mapped out where all of the local Mormons live. It was easier, and besides, I wounded my gardening finger.:D;)

OTOH, the wife is growing tomatoes, beans, peppers, and a few pumpkins. We already had a crop of strawberries last month that have been made into preserves, and this month has been blueberries.

The Niagra grapes I planted are due in next season. I am growing grapes because I couldn't grow blue agave to make tequila, so if pressed, I can make grape based vodka instead as personal Depression relief.:p

You can just see the garden in the background here:

Jeff,

Are you doing raised bed gardening? Can't tell from the Izula photo.

I grow them every once in a while. They're a good crop to rotate in. I love raw peanuts.

Just remember that peanuts like calcium, not fertilizer

We have a little one. Peaches and Cream Sweet Corn, Tomatoes, Peppers, Strawberries and Watermelon. We can alot of corn, tomatoes and strawberries. Makes it nice to have sweet corn and strawberry shortcake in the winter:D

Nice thread. Corn, beans, jalapenos, cantelope, watermelons, lettuce, carrots, beets, heirloom tomatoes 1 row purple, 2 rows red, and a row of sunflowers for my kid. The beets are the only slackers and I have made sure they stayed hydrated. First time messing with them but I'm pretty disappointed in their pitiful little showing. My tomatoes are so tasty though it makes up for the beet let-down.

Great thread! My boss let me an one of the other guys plow up a 25x50' bed at the shop this year. This the first try at gardening for both of us. We planted some corn, tomatoes, cayenne peppers, green peppers, pole beans, peas, zucchini, cantaloupe, and yellow watermelon. It's ugly as sin but doing ok for a first try. Learning as we go. When my girlfriend an I finally get around to buying a house I hope to do a good bit of gardening.

i'm just too lazy. last year, i plowed up a spot, got some organic seed, and never planted it. one of these days...
