My Grandfather gave this chair to my Mom about 35 years ago. He bought and sold old furniture around east Tennessee for years. I've looked at lots of old furniture web sites and can't find anything that resembles this chair. The arms on this one curl back in at the leg where most curl in front of the leg and a few in back of the leg. I can't find a mark on the chair to tell who made it or where it came from or it's age. Decided to ask you bastids because of the vast array of knowledge we have here in the melting pot of BFC! :D
Sorry I left the pics big but I wanted ya to get a good look at it.
Thanks for anything you can tell me about it!!

Hi All-

Or perhaps finding one of those "Antique Roadshow" kind of events where they have experts who can also provide a monetary value.

looks like a mahogany carver chair with a waisted back and claw feet. You sit on it at the head of the dining table. The other chairs in the set usually don't have arms and normally 6 in a set, sometimes 8. Somewhat crude in style by the scroll work and the pierced stretcher on the sides. Good honest country furniture though, and well upholstered. The seat has crossed webbing, with springs sewn to it. On top of the springs, hessian and horsehair. Guestimate of the date ... 1880 to 1910.
