Just wondering if any of you keep a list or mental note of what you want to get next?

If you do, what’s on it?

I never thought I would get to a point in my life where I would say that I have so many knives
that at my age I cant possibly use all of them. so I do not have a wish list. although I still
buy a few that catch my eye every now and then. I think I might sell off a few dozen and
narrow down the herd.
 
Theres blades i occasionally check up on with the desire to buy them. And then something else pops up and those other blades arent even thought of as i impulse buy whatever i just found, whether new or on sale.
 
I want stuff that's longer than I can make... problem is they're things like Stuart Branson's stuff, etc. Periodically I get a hankering for factory fixed blades, but then remind myself to make them instead. Need a bigger forge.

Folders... About once a year I decide to treat myself to a folder, but usually don't start looking until I'm ready to buy. And for awhile that was tied to "You made it through the field season!!", and that's no longer a regular thing.
 
As I realized I had more knives then I would ever need. I made a list of specific knives I needed to complete specific sets. Then committed to only buying those as they came up.

I found it more rewarding than just buying whatever caught my eye.

Yes I can now say my knife collection is complete.............Until Ethan comes up with a new design.
 
I was Just thinking about This the other day....I Have crossed off a couple "wants" this year.

My knife desires more stem from wanting to get knives that can teach me something about their design...it might be blade style, knife edge, handle shape, sheath type, etc. etc.
All my knives are "users" to some degree.

I have the typical newbie Becker Wants.... 4,15,20.... The only current one I want, but don't have is the 21. (that's on my eventually buy before it becomes extinct list)

another common knife everyone seems to have, but Me is the Junglas I'll get someday, but it will be Used.

I'd love a nice Bill Siegle Chopper of sorts, some day... too.

I’ve certainly gotten to the point where I’ve slowed down too. It’s only when new things come out that I really want or I discover something I wasn’t aware of. :)

I always stay on the lookout for good deals on good knives as I rarely pay retail or near retail prices. Hence, I look for clearanced or used SAKs, Leatherman MTs, BKs, etc.

Specifically, I would like:
BK 21
BK 5
TOPS Trackers

So I keep an eye on trade/sell forums too!
 
I was slowing down before the corona stuff happened. In the last three years here I bought a dozen or so really nice production, midtech and custom knives. Different sizes and blade geometries. It taught me a lot about my needs and preferences. The only recent purchase was for a spot on a wait list from a year and half ago. I'm not lusting for anything more now. A half dozen or so can go to the sales forum.
 
Hmmm......if I was just to name Beckers:

BK1, BK12 Ritter, BK15, BK20, BK29.

Also a roll-stamped BK7, another roll-stamped BK9 (I took the ramp off of mine), an extra 6x BK15s (as steak knives), an extra BK12 Safe Queen.

I really have too many knives, but....a few more.....you know how it goes

Well, I don't actuallly need any more knives its just waiting for some grails to come out...

A BK14 with a slightly longer handle...
A BK9 with a longer blade 7-8inch...

I don't use folders that much, maybe a completely blacked out UKPK would be nice...
 
Just impulse bought a Mora Pro C in carbon steel. I think I like the Companion a bit more.

Another Dogs Head on order. Hasn’t shipped yet.

Want a Tops Puukko.

Need another Cold Steel Recon 1.

Eyeballing the Zomstro.

Considering another Old Hickory paring knife (most used knife in my house. Mora Filet knife close second).

Wouldn’t mind a Spyderco Siren (seems pricey though).

Lusting after a popcorn stag GEC spearpoint single blade.

Reality...I should just save my money since the world seems to be heading to dumpster fire status...:)
 
I want to get one of the new Kabar's in D2 with straight edge. I am not sure what else. I am an opportunist though, so I have a tendency to pick up knives for no more reason than "oh look at that! That's nice!"
 
It’s amusing the commonality my own acquisition habits have with what many of you wrote. My gateway knife was a KA-BAR 1213 with kraton handle back in 2013, I don’t really need any more knives, perhaps I should save my money, and I’m certainly an opportunist too.

All that said, my current list has changed since yesterday and has now gotten smaller:

I composed my revised list knowing full well that there’s a chance something new will probably come out soon that is bound to captivate my attention. :)
 
The BK-11 was my gateway Becker (followed by the BK-2). It was in D2 by Camillus at the time. That one went to Psyop in a trade, but there's another almost pristine one in the house. Not a dig on those BK-11's, but you couldn't pay me to own another knife in D2 unless it was ground by Bob Dozier himself (whom I met twice last year while on sabbatical!).

Trying to buy only knives I'll learn something from these days.
The smaller Lionsteel folder was a near-buy for me this spring, but it still exceeded my local 3" concealed carry limit.

idk if you saw the collaboratively designed knife by ESEE and L.T. Wright Handcrafted Knives? It's called V2 Collective. I see there is still one on Am*zon,? As a heads up, I think only 50 were made, if I heard the story correct?….. I got one a week ago here on BF used...… It's Amazing! I love it....
