I know quite a few forumites are members of the AKTI, but I don't recall any one mentioning that they are members of the NKCA.
I have been a member for about 11 years now. Anybody in the NKCA?

I've been a member for the past 3 years. Not real active since the closest NKCA sponsored shows are a days drive in St. Louis or Springfield. Sounds like they need support lately. The edit came about because I tried the link I put in and it came up as a name for sale. Don't know, maybe they don't have a web presence any more.

Dave,

They do need the support as they have been on times lately. Part of this is due to a membership that is not growing or at least not fast enough. Their sponsored shows are usually good ones. I am not sure why knife nuts aren't joining the ranks.

Started my 10th year this year.
If anyone is interested in joining their address is:
National Knife Collectors Association
P.O. Box 21070
Chattanooga, TN 37424
Dues are 25.00 a year and if you join you also get a 1 year subscription to KNIFE WORLD

In addition to the shows they put on, they also have a museum that they keep open. Unfortunately the museum is located in a sprawling mall area and I think they are having to scramble to find a new place.

I've been a member of NKCA for over ten years now. I went to the museum shortly after I joined. It's great and I think anyone that likes knives would love it. They used to put out a real nice monthly magazine but had to disontinue it for budget reasons. Then they put a monthly article in the Knife World magazine for the past two or three years. Now in the March issue of Knife World the NKCA stated it was no longer finacially possible to publish its monthly newsletter there and they would start publishing a monthly newsletter on their own. The dues are $28.00 for new members and $25.00 for renewal.
The NKCA is a worthwhile organization promoting knife collecting. It needs more members and deserves our support.

Been a member for about 5 years. Great organization that needs all the help they can get; Seems always to be in financial crisis. Produce a great club knife each year; this year it is a Schatt&Morgan 2 bladed Doctors Knife, etched & serial numbered - $77.00.

New member, I Like their shows which are free to members and look foward to each months Knife World which is included with each membership for any who might what to join. Mike

Life Member since 1988. They keep asking me for money, but never talk about custom knives. They do have a great museum. If you are into factory and antique knives it's a great organization.

The membership and show attendance is way down from 5 years ago. Due in large part to the aging of the organization.

I think if they were to get a web site they would attract a lot of new members.

I was recently told that they are no longer affiliated with KnifeWorld and if you subscribed through NKCA for KnifeWorld you are no longer rec it. Anyone else heard about this?
Bob

Dont know about that. However, the NKCA is no longer using Knife World to publish their news letter.

Now they send out their own newsletter. A far cry from the 4 color cover magazine they used to send out.

Bob,

That's the way I heard it too. Knife World subscription stops if you received it for being a member of the NKCA. The new newsletter is a far cry from the old magazine they once put out, but hopefully in the future, with more members joining, they can return with a good magazine.
