My new coworker has a rather unique (to me) box knife.
I had never seen one this thin in the handle and a texture that is new to me to.
Any info ?

A serrated blade no less . . . I've never seen this before on a box knife either.

Looks like a vintage Stanley from the 80's.

No info, but those metal box cutters pretty much last you a lifetime, at least the older ones like the one you got there.

It is an old Stanley. You can find those in yard sales and pawn shops everywhere. Stanley is still in business and they sell their products in stores and they have trucks that come by and deliver, too. The last time I was in either Walmart or Lowe's they still had those metal knives, but I seem to remember them being painted now.

Thanks.
Apparently they had the fat ones then to. All I remember from the seventies and eighties are the fat ones and before that fat ones that didn't retract.
Sounds like they were offering thin and fat ones side by side.

Oh well I was curious.

Oh and the serrated blade . . . is that a user mod or has anyone seen that before ?

I have an alloy box cutter similar to that one, mine just don’t have the textured handle. It was one I received when my father in law passed away.

There are serrated box cutter replacement blades out there, I've seen them before.

Thanks.
