I am looking for a good beater. I work in construction, so I am looking at one with veff serrations. I destroy knives at work, so I am not looking to carry a 100 dollar knife. Does any one have any experience with this knife? Can it take a beating? I have no problem sharpening it a lot, so blade steel is not an issue. Just looking for any opinions. Thanks.

I've got one via another menber here that I use as a "dress knife" so I cant help. INterested if anyone has any experience tho as it seems to be pretty solid ( for a folder).

Destroy how? Maybe you should get somthing like a strider sng! If you can break it they will fix it! Insted of breaking knife after knife, ad that can get expensive after a while

When I say destroy, I mean I put them through their paces. I cut wood, wire, scrape thinset, foam insulation on concrete, pry back some trim on occasion, if nothing else is handy, cut open boxes, plastic wrap, etc... I have a CRKT M21 that has held up nicely. It is constantly on the sharpener, and the profile of the blade is disappearing. I tried a Kershaw Needs work, and the tip broke the first day, and a few months in, the knife needed cleaned, but the pivot had stripped in the zytel handle. I have taken my para military a few times, but I just can not bring myself to use it at work. My knives from work are not pretty, but they serve me well. I have a nice collection of higher end knives, but when I save and sell things to be able to purchase a Chris Reeve, I am not taking that to work. I would wrather buy one 30 dollar knife a year.

why not just get a buck 110? robust blades, hold an edge well, strong contruction, cheap...I've used em in past for electrical work, but I am against serration on a knife i use (only my leatherman wave has a serrated blade).

Kershaw Lahar. VG-10 is good steel and easy to sharpen. But does not have the Veff serrations. It has served me well in the past.

Does it necessarily have to be Veff type serrations?

Really nice knives. I picked one for for my stepdad for Christmas this year. It has a manual LAWKS which lets you lock the lock in place, if need be. The serrations are very stout. I have a stubby folding and a stubby fixed Razel and both are great. Personally I like the fixed blade for any heavy working but the liner lock on the folding stubby is stout. Lock up really strong as does the larger folding Razel. I have not used the folders enough to really say they can take a beating but I would say that for about $35 each you can tear up one or two a year for 5 years before you reach Strider prices. The fixed carries like a clip knife and re-sheaths easy too. It costs a little bit more approximately $55 but it will stand up to prying. I demoed my bathroom with my fixed stubby Razel and with a few passes on the sharpmaker got it back to shaving sharp really quickly. I am not sure how good CRKT's warranty is but I would say that if its under "normalish" use they would probably cover it. I got hooked on the Graham design with CRKT and look forward to getting a ringed model in the future. Try one out for $35 you can't go wrong, and in my three months of looking through the trades and sales forums haven't seen any come up, to me that looks like a decent sign. Sorry for rambling but really like these knives even though I am not a huge CRKT fan.

Thanks a lot Haknpocket. That is what I was hoping for. I agree with you on the Strider thing. I picked up a Strider at the knife show Sunday, and could not see the 475 they were asking for it. I have a Zero Tolerance 300 that seems just as strong, if not a tad stronger, and was well less than half of that price. I will go the route of CRKT for now. Like you said. I could buy them for the next five years, just to beat on them.
